Requirements

Students will be required to complete one current event per quarter. Homework passes may not be used. Please feel free to turn in the assignment as soon as it is complete. Articles must cover a science related topic. All current event summaries should be completed in the science notebook.

Grading Criteria/Requirements

10 pts Copy of the Article: It must be glued in the science notebook with the summary.

10 pts Article Length/Content: The article you are summarizing must contain at least 3 substantial paragraphs and be science related.

50 pts Summary Paragraph: Introduction – 10 pts Supporting Details with specific facts from the article – 30 pts Conclusion – 10 pts

20 pts Mechanics: Capitalization, Punctuation, Sentence Structure, Spelling, Handwriting – 4 pts each

10 pts Written in student’s own words
