Dear Parents and Guardians:

Good Citizen’s Week was a success! Students and staff had the opportunity to wear pajamas, mustaches, dress like their teacher (teacher dress like their student) and be a super hero! The theme – Put your Best Foot Forward – encouraged students to strive for the following traits:
Cooperation, Motivation, Organization and Determination
A special thank you to Mrs. Heer, Mrs. Zydel, Mrs. Riddoch, and Mrs. Zerkowski for coordinating the week’s events which included an assembly representing the many talents of our faculty and staff. A big thank you to all the William Street staff who participated in this fun event!
During the month of May, students and staff showed their ‘ADE for Alzheimer’s by taking a “lemon face” photos for a donation to support ADE for Alzheimer’s. Pictures are posted in our main hallway. A special thank you to parent, Mrs. Oberg and her son Jacob for educating students and staff on this worthy cause. William Street staff will also participate by doing a Dress Down for Alzheimer’s on June 2nd.
On May 19th William Street School participated as a stop for the Ride for Missing and Exploited Children. Students and staff showed their support to riders. Congratulations to teacher, Mr. Morrissey for participating in the ride.
Also on May 31st, William Street School held its 6th annual Triathlon! 400 hundred students district-wide from grades 3-6 participated in the swim/bike/run event! Thank you to Mr. Serotte and the Lancaster Central School District Physical Education staff on coordinating this event and the many William Street teachers, students and volunteers who gave their time for the students in Lancaster!

HEALTH OFFICE NEWS – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
New York State requires immunization for all incoming 6th graders who are 11 years old. Students entering 6th grade or a comparable Special Education program on or after September 1, 2017 and who are 11 years of age or older must receive an immunization called Tdap. Ten-year- old students who are entering 6th grade will not be required to receive the Tdap vaccine and will not be excluded from school, but they must be immunized when they turn 11 years old. Immunization must be received within two weeks of your child’s birthday. Please be sure to schedule an appointment with your child’s physician if you haven’t already done so.
Students entering 7th grade next year also need a physical evaluation as required by New York State Law. This physical needs to be turned in to the Middle School nurse no later than October 2, 2017. According to state law, all children that have not been examined by their private physician will have a complete physical exam done by the school physician. If for any reason, be it time constraints, monetary concerns, or physician availability, prevents you from having this form completed, please be assured that your child will be examined in a timely manner by the school physician. All 7th, 8th and 12th grade students MUST HAVE proof of having been given the

Please remember to pick up your child’s medication in the Health Office prior to the last day of school. The school is unable to allow your child to bring the medication home. The Health Office does not store medication or medical supplies at the school over the summer. To accommodate all of our parents, the Health Office has extended their hours on Monday, June 19th from 8:15 am – 4:15 pm, and on Thursday and Friday, June 15th and 16th from 7:45 am – 3:15 pm. Medication and medical supplies not picked up by Noon on Thursday, June 22nd will be disposed of. New medication permission and physician orders for each medication are required each school year. As outlined in the student handbook and our website, parents are responsible for bringing all medication to the school. For this reason, William Street School Health Office will be open on Wednesday, August 28th from 7:00 am – 11:30 am to receive any medication you need to drop off.
