Futsal balls feature a reduced bounce and are smaller than typical outdoor balls.

Matches/Bracketing  Guaranteed 3 games.  Teams will be divided into two(2) different divisions o The Gold Division will represent VARSITY players o The Blue Division will represent JUNIOR VASRITY players . If a team has more players on Varsity than Junior Varsity, it will be considered a Varsity team. If the players are split (4 Varsity and 4 JV) than it will be considered a Varsity Team.  Pool play will be scored as follows [10 point max per game] o 6 points for a win o 2 point for a tie o 0 points for a loss o 1 point for a shut out BVU Soccer High School 4v4 Futsal Tournament Rules and Regulations o 1 point for each goal scored, up to 3  In the case of teams tied at the end of group play, the head to head match will be the first tie breaker followed by goal differential. If teams are still tied they will move directly to a shootout, as described in the rules.

Duration and Completion of the Game  Two equal periods of 13 minutes; running clock with no stoppages.  Half-time: 2 Minutes  Ties will be recorded for pool play games.  Playoff games that are tied at the end of regulation will feature one 3 minute golden goal overtime period followed by a shootout described below.  It is the teams’ responsibility to be on time for the start of the match. The clock will start at the designated time. If an opposing team is not ready to play after 3 minutes have passed, they will record a 3-0 loss. You may still be allowed to play the remainder of the game, but the 3-0 score will stand.

Shootout  The shootout begins with one player from each team guaranteed a shot and is sudden victory from the start [A team that has made a shot and the other team has missed will win the match as long as each team has had an equal number of shots].  If the shootout continues, no player may shoot twice before all their teammates have shot once.  The shot position will move even if both players miss their shots from the spot.  The first pair of shots will be taken from the midfield line.  The second pair of shots, if needed, will be taken from the far 3 point line.  The third and all following shots, if needed, will be taken from the opposite end line.

Substitutions  Substitutions are allowed at any time, even during the run of play.  Players must enter and leave the field of play through the marked Substitution Area.  Substitutes will not enter play until the field player is out of the run of play and ready to exit the field through the Substitution Area.

The Field [see diagram]  The game will be played within the boundaries of a basketball court. The goals are 2 foot high by 4 foot wide.  Substitution Area- Players must enter and leave from the marked area in their defensive half when substituting on the fly. Failure to do so may result in a penalty kick for the opposing team.  The Goal Arc- The goal arc is an area in front of the goal in which no player may touch the ball. If a defending player touches the ball while it is in the Goal Arc, a goal will be BVU Soccer High School 4v4 Futsal Tournament Rules and Regulations awarded to the attacking team. If an attacking player touches the ball while it is in the Goal Arc, a goal kick will be awarded. Starts and Restarts  Kick off at the start of the game will be taken by the first team listed. The second half will be started by a kick off by the second team listed. The ball does not have to go forward on a kickoff. Teams will not switch sides at halftime.  All restarts, with the exception of penalty kicks, are indirect kicks and cannot be directly scored. Restarts must be taken in a timely manner. If play is delayed too long, the official may award a free kick to the opposing team.  Balls that go out of touch are restarted by a kick in at the point the ball exited the field of play. Goal kicks are taken from any point on the goal line. Corner kicks are placed on the corner of the playing field [no corner arc]  If the ball hits the ceiling within the field of play a free kick will be given to the opposing team at the spot it hit the ceiling.  Opposing players will automatically line up at least 4 yards away from any free kick. Players do not have to ask for the wall to be backed up. If, in the official’s opinion, a team or player deliberately prevents the quick restart of play by not attempting to move 4 yards away then a penalty kick may be awarded.  If a free kick is within 4 yards of the goal arc, the ball will be moved backwards until it is 4 yards from the arc, allowing for a wall to be set.

Penalty Kicks  Penalty kicks may be awarded if improper conduct, in the opinion of the official, denies a goal or goal scoring opportunity.  Penalty kicks will be taken from the midfield line.  During a penalty kick, all other players will be behind the mid line. The ball is not live at any point. A missed penalty becomes a goal kick for the opposing team.

Rules of Removal and Ejection  Removal- a player may be asked to move to the bench and be substituted if the official believes the player’s behavior is detrimental to the game. This might include but is not limited to preventing the restart of play, unsporting behavior and reckless play [also refer to the Zero Tolerance policy]. The player may substitute back into play after 2 minutes have passed on the game clock. The decision of the official is final and arguing or refusing to go to the bench may be grounds for ejection.  Ejection- a player ejected is out for the rest of the game and is not permitted to be in the team’s bench area. The team of the player sent off will play with a man down for 2 minutes of game time or until the opposing team scores, whichever comes first. The substitute cannot enter the field until he has the official's consent. The official may BVU Soccer High School 4v4 Futsal Tournament Rules and Regulations recommend to the Tournament Director that the player also be suspended from future games or the remainder of the tournament.
