Setting new standards for industrial process automation solutions in the metropolitan New York City tri-state area, Control Associates, Inc. is a major provider of industrial process control systems, control valves, regulators, process instrumentation, flow computers, valve automation and the associated engineering and technical support services. We are looking to hire a Reliability Engineer to work with our Lifecycle Services team, based at our headquarters in Allendale, NJ in northern Bergen County.
Established in 1933, Control Associates along with its global process automation business partner, Emerson Process Management (parent company of Fisher Controls), specializes in supporting the process control equipment and service needs of the following industries:
Air Separation, Biotech, Chemical, Food & Beverage, HVAC, Hydrocarbon Processing, Natural Gas Distribution & Transmission, Oil Refining, Pharmaceutical, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Water & Wastewater Treatment.
Our Reliability Engineer will conduct route based and continuous online vibration monitoring, analysis and reporting services. S/he will also conduct route based oil and lubrication collection and analysis services as well as specify, install, update, maintain, troubleshoot and repair online and wireless vibration monitoring prediction and protection systems. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform and monitor vibration measurements on rotating equipment at customer plant sites, and diagnose the condition of the equipment for the customer. Perform vibration analyses using analyzers and software specifically designed for collecting equipment vibration data. Document the results of the analysis and produce report/ratios of the findings.
Assess and troubleshoot issues with the rotating equipment and perform onsite dynamic balancing, laser, and geometrical alignments. Provide guidance to customers on best practices for troubleshooting rotating equipment issues.
Collect oil and lubrication samples onsite, then analyze and interpret the results from the laboratory.
Create and manage route-based vibration programs and lubrication monitoring programs for customer plan sites.
Assess customer corrective maintenance practices and make recommendations for improvement. Provide technical expertise that supports proactive problem detection and recommend corrective actions. Provide basic customer training on proper maintenance practices, and the balancing and aligning of rotating equipment.
Lead the planning, installation and commissioning of new and retrofit online vibration systems including conducting a site assessment to scope the work and if required act as onsite project manager.
Perform calibration on new and existing installations including the simulation of vibration signals, verification of monitor ranges, verification of system alarms, and verification of system outputs. Document the calibration activities undertaken.
Plan and perform annual maintenance of online systems including: firmware and software updates, verification of alarm actions and updating of alarm levels, and verification that all input cards, CPU’s and sensors are working and calibrated.
Plan and perform turnaround/outage maintenance of online systems including: coordinating activities with customer, sensor verification, installing systems and sensor modifications, coordinating outside shop repairs, re-installation of sensors, and re-commissioning the system.
Perform verification of the system programming and configuration and the communications network between the online system and any user interface systems.
Provide start-up assistance of sensors and online system.
Assist in integration of third party software and hardware solutions. US – Northern NJ –Reliability Engineer
Perform administrative activities, including, but not limited to the completion of all paperwork and reporting required to documentation site and project work.
Qualified candidates will possess a four year Bachelor’s degree relevant to the field of Reliability, Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Computer Science Engineering is required. Category II or III Vibration Analyst, Level One or Two Tribologist Certifications and CMRP or CRE Certifications is helpful. Prior experience in machine maintenance is strongly preferred. Knowledge of large rotating equipment, characteristics and causes of machinery vibration, is preferred. Ability to perform onsite and online data collection and periodic monitoring, and ability to perform fault diagnosis, condition evaluation and maintenance recommendations is required. Mechanical aptitude is required. PC literate and proficient in working in a Windows environment and with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Microsoft Access is required. S/he will interact regularly with customers and co-workers, thus strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be a clear communicator is necessary. S/he must also have excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to travel as needed is required. S/he must possess a valid driver license. Candidates must be available for on-call duty as assigned.
