Students can enter college classrooms with a sense of uneasiness and anxiety. Including an inviting welcome letter in your syllabus can help to put students at ease as well as provide a personal touch. In this section, it is also important to show your passion for the subject and the course. Let your students know why you love your subject and why you enjoy teaching. You can also discuss your personal beliefs on education and student learning. Remember to also keep a positive, friendly tone here and throughout your syllabus.

Student Computer Labs: Computer labs available for you to type papers, print out course documents from My CCP, or check CCP email. You need your student ID to access the labs, located in rooms B2-33 and C3-17 on the Main Campus.

Learning Labs: The Central Learning Lab (Room B1-28 on the Main Campus) offers tutoring for this course, houses the Writing Center, where you can receive assistance with writing assignments, and offers Master Student Workshops, where you can learn about time management, note-taking, reading strategies, and test-taking tips.

Counseling Center: The Counseling Center, located in room W2-2 on the Main Campus, is staffed by professional counselors and offers free educational, career, transfer and personal counseling to students.

Library: Hours of operation and access to the catalog and online databases can be found on My CCP. A valid Student ID is required to enter the library.

Center on Disability: Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Center on Disability, located in room M1-22, for a confidential discussion of academic accommodations. Their telephone number is 215-751-8050; additional information about their services can be found on My CCP.

USING MY CCP (optional)

 Accessing Course Documents: Step 1: Log in to My CCP and click on the My Courses tab at the top. Step 2: Click on the name of the course – “Introduction to Psychology” Step 3: Under the Course Tools menu to the left click on “Files” Step 4: Locate the folder and/or file and click on it. You can save it or print it.

 Emailing Classmates: My CCP lets you email me, the entire class, or only certain classmates without having to know their email address. Step 1: Log in to My CCP and click on the My Courses tab at the top Step 2: Click on the Email link in the Course Tools menu Step 3: Select the names of those you want to email. If you select all, I get a copy of the email so be careful what you say! Step 4: Click the “Send Email” button towards the top Step 5: Insert a subject, type your email and click Send.

 CCP Google Email: All CCP students are given a CCP email address; it is important that you use this account to email me and that you to check this email account regularly. After you log onto My CCP, you’ll see the Email icon at the top of the screen.
