ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT

JOB TITLE: Semi-Skilled (Infrastructure Works) SAFETY Safety Critical RESPONSIBILITY: DEPARTMENT: Capital Delivery LOCATION: NRHQ RESPONSIBLE TO: Infrastructure Works Production Supervisor PURPOSE: DIMENSIONS: Employees: Budgetary Responsibility: Financial Responsibility: REMUNERATION: RB3

ROLE:

1. To carryout duties of a Semi-Skilled nature in relation to Infrastructure Works activities, encompassing various tasks from vegetation clearance, troughing installation/ maintenance, installation of cable tray plus all other Infrastructure Works tasks of a semi-skilled nature.

2. To carry out driving duties and to routinely and regularly check all vehicle log sheets and ensure that procedures are being adhered to correctly.

3. To assist Skilled Infrastructure Works team in carrying out their duties as necessary.

4. To report to Supervisors/ Chargehands on issues such as task done/time taken/ material used/not used in either written or electronic format.

5. To comply with Health and Safety legislation as an individual and for other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.

6. Deputise for Chargehand where applicable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following list is typical of the duties which the post holder will be required to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type or level may be required from time to time.

1. To carryout nightshift duties as directed in the normal manner.

2. To carryout Lookoutman/MICTA/PTS/WSC/Trainmaster etc duties if trained in the correct procedures.

3. To operate various items of site plant such as dumper trucks, Fork Lift Trucks etc.

4. Be required from time to time, to attend training courses, both in-house and external training providers. 5. To partake in any ‘Emergency Return to Work’ where possible.

6. To Participate in a standby and callout roster if required.

STATUTORY DUTIES:

1. Responsible for managing those elements of the safety management system allocated to Nexus Rail and specifically to the role of Semi-Skilled (Infrastructure Works) for the safe operation of Nexus and associated projects. 2. Responsible for carrying out duties and ensuring procedures are in place to meet legislative and company standards requirements for the Capital Delivery functions.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential  Must be able to demonstrate experience of and competence with all work processes associated with the Infrastructure Works disciplines.

 Must be available to undertake Standby and Call Out Duties (where applicable)

 Have a current UK driving licence

 Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and experience with equipment and systems for which the Capital Delivery section is responsible, within the limits of their own responsibilities.

 Must be able to work within and enforce the organisational standard, procedures and controls.

 Must have a good working knowledge of Health & Safety practices in the workplace.

Desirable  Have previous experience and competence, working in a Railway Environment

 Demonstrate a flexible approach to completing tasks

 Demonstrate the ability to work as an individual or part of a team

SPECIFIC SAFETY QUALIFICATIONS

1. Personal Track Safety. 2. Good working knowledge of Metro Rules and Regulations.

HOLDER OF THIS POST MUST HAVE ACCESS TO REQUIRED SAFETY PUBLICATIONS AND PERSONAL EQUIPMENT/PPE.
