Fishing for the Dream Tournament Celebrates 7th Year

Fort Lauderdale, FL: Deliver the Dream will host its 7th annual Fishing for the Dream Fishing Tournament on April 28-29 to raise funds for its family retreat program.

Taking place at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club, the tournament will kick off on Friday night with a Captain’s cocktail party from 6-8PM. The evening will include Tito’s Vodka cocktails and an amazing silent auction, with vacation getaways, fishing excursions, and plenty of fishing gear. The tournament will begin at 7AM on Saturday morning. Boats participating in Deliver the Dream’s Fishing for the Dream must be visually checked into the Yacht Club by 3PM. A BBQ and awards ceremony will follow the exciting weigh in. Winners of the Fishing for the Dream tournament will receive cash prizes along with trophies. Top boat will win $2,500, 2 nd place $1,500 and 3rd place $1,000. Top male and female anglers will win $200 and top pee wee angler will win a custom rod designed by Custom Rod & Reel. NEW THIS YEAR IS A $10,000 PRIZE SHOOTOUT FOR THE RECORD KINGFISH MACKEREL!

Fishing for the Dream boat entry until April 10TH is $400 and $450 after that date. Registration includes tickets to the Captain’s party and the BBQ. The planning committee works year around to put this event together. Members include Rick Moore, Ken Stiles, Gene and Diane Stoller, Blaine Vaszily, Maurice Jemison, Zack Rice, Clarke Harlow, Adam Fisk, and Liz Forde.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Deliver the Dream’s Family Retreat Program. Deliver the Dream provides families with the life-changing opportunity to escape the overwhelming stress of a serious illness and focus on becoming families and kids again. Families find time to reunite, enjoy recreational activities, forge new friendships, and gain support from families also in a similar situation. Nearly 7,000 lives of those challenged by Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, HIV, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Autism, the death of a loved one and many other illnesses have been helped by a Deliver the Dream retreat weekend. Retreats are also offered to post 9/11 combat veterans and their families. All of these retreats are provided at no cost to its participants.
