CENTRAL PENN • This is just the second ever meeting between Winthrop and Central Penn • The first meeting took place on Nov. 26, 2011 in the Winthrop Coliseum as the Eagles prevailed 107-68 • Winthrop placed six players in double-figures in the game led by Reggie Middleton’s 19 points as the Eagles shot 62 percent from the floor in the game EAGLES VERSUS NON-D1 OPPONENTS • Eagles are 89-8 all-time versus Non-D1 opponents (5 of those losses coming in the program’s first year at the NCAA D1 level) • Have won 46 straight against Non-D1 opponents with the last loss coming on Dec. 6, 1997 at home against Anderson College, 79-77 • Under Kelsey the Eagles are a perfect 14-0 against Non-D1 opponents • In those 14 games the Eagles are averaging 89.3 ppg (1,250 points) and allowing 60.9 ppg (852 points) • Winthrop has hit the century mark in three of the last four games against a Non-D1 opponent • Winthrop’s largest margin of victory against a non-D1 opponent came on Dec. 7, 1996 in a 130-33 win over Johnson & Wales TEAM NEWS • Winthrop is 0-2 for the first time since the 2011-12 season • Loss to Southern Illinois was the first season opener the Eagles dropped under Kelsey (5-1) • Eagles haven’t lost back-to-back home games since the 2014-15 season when the Eagles fell 90-87 in double-overtime to High Point on Jan. 3, 2015 and then fell 85-77 to Radford on Jan. 17, 2015 • At Colorado State the Eagles lost a game in which they led at halftime for the first time since a double-overtime loss at UNC Asheville on Feb. 9, 2017 (104-101/led 35-34 at the break) • It was the first time losing a game in which the Eagles led by five or more points at the half since an 80-83 loss on Jan. 28, 2017 (Win- throp led 38-33 at the half) • The Eagles are 17-3 in their last 20 games leading at the half (35-6 since the start of the 2015-16 season/50-10 since the 2014-15 season) • The next win at home by the Eagles will be the 400th home victory all-time (353 home wins at the Winthrop Coliseum) • The Eagles knocked down 15 threes in the loss at Colorado State, which were the most threes in a loss since hitting 14 in the double- overtime loss at UNC Asheville on Feb.
