    Ohio State Defeats Purdue 68-52 For Second Straight Win The Ohio State men’s basketball team defeated Purdue 68-52 at Value City Arena for its second straight win and fifth in six contests on Feb. 15. “Just compete, to be honest,” sophomore guard Luther Muhammad said of head coach Chris Holtmann’s message. “We knew it was going to be a fight from start to finish. We had to come out and play hard, play together. And our coach was just hitting on competing, executing and toughness.” The Buckeyes used a balanced attack to take down the Boilermakers, led by junior forwards Kyle Young and Kaleb Wesson. Young led the team with a career-high 16 points while grabbing seven rebounds, and Kaleb Wesson recorded 13 points with eight boards, four assists and four steals. “More than anything he impacts the game in ways that are not always on the stat sheet, but today it really was on the stat sheet with his rebounds and his scoring,” Holtmann said of Young. “His activity and his ability to guard different bodies in different positions – he was really good.” After leading 29-20 at halftime, Ohio State opened the second half on a 7-0 run with a three-pointer by Muhammad sandwiched between layups from Young and Kaleb Wesson. Purdue used an 8-3 spurt sparked by a three-pointer and and-1 from senior forward Evan Boudreaux to cut Ohio State’s lead to 39-28 with 15:11 to play. Eleven points was the closest Purdue would get until the Boilermakers ripped off a 6-0 run to cut a 45-30 Buckeye lead to nine points with 10:17 remaining.

The goal of this series is to demonstrate how philosophical inquiry has been reinvigorated by increased scholarly interest in the inter- section of popular culture and philosophy, as well as to explore through philosophical analysis beloved modes of entertainment, such as movies, TV shows, and music. Philosophical concepts will be made accessible to the general reader through examples in popular culture.     VARSITY O 2019 FALL NEWS LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Fellow Varsity O Members, Happy Fall! Autumn officially means many things: students back on The Ohio State campus, the crisp air with crunchy leaves beneath each step, our fall-sport Buckeyes taking their respective fields and courts, Saturdays in The SHOE, and… Varsity O’s most exciting time of year! In early September, we celebrated our 42nd year of The Ohio State University Athletics Hall of Fame. Our incredible inductees were legends in their sport, Olympic medalists, international icons, and can I just say, “Amazing human beings that were fun, kind, humble, and gracious to be awarded with such prestige!” As we roll into October, I want to remind all of you of our Homecoming Tailgate which will be at the French Fieldhouse on October 5th from 4-7pm prior to the Michigan State game. This is a great opportunity to join Varsity O and fellow Buckeyes for a food buffet, cash-bar, music, corn-hole, photo booth, and other fun surprises we have planned. We will also be celebrating our Jim Jones Career Achievement Award and Varsity O Loyalty award winners as well! Through the 2019-2020 academic year, the University is celebrating its storied and proud history of 150 years. We are calling it, “The Sesquicentennial Year of Celebration”.
