 Introduction of DuPont China R&D Center DuPont China R&D Center, the third comprehensive and corporate level research and development facility established outside U.S., plays an important role in globalization of DuPont R&D capabilities. The new R&D Center is located in Zhangjiang High-tech Park, Pudong, Shanghai, one of China’s national special areas dedicated to high-tech start-ups and research organizations. The R&D Center occupies 33,000 m2 of land and has been operational since March 2005. Currently the Center houses 120 people, and it is planned to expand up to 400 scientists and technicians.

The DuPont China R&D Center was designed to handle research and development, technology transfer and licensing of DuPont technologies and products as well as new product applications for the Chinese market and global market; provide strong and tailored technical service to meet customers’ specific needs, including training for customers and DuPont employees, and after-sales technical supports. Also, the DuPont China R&D Center will act as a platform to facilitate technological exchanges and research collaborations between DuPont and leading Chinese and Asian universities and research institutes to develop new technologies and new products to meet market demands.

 Job title: Research Chemist/Physicist

Job Descriptions: The successful candidate will work in a market-driven R & D team across Strategic Business Units (SBU) focused on the development of new materials and applications. Working with customers and collaborators, the person will participate in development of technical solutions to the increased needs for new and advanced materials and applications. The person is expected to apply the fundamental knowledge in photovoltaics, bio-based material science and polymer science to supporting market development and business growth in China, Asia Pacific region and global.

Job Responsibilities: 1. Develop and prioritize market driven technical projects that drive business growth in the region 2. Develop new technologies to support SBU technical programs 3. Design and conduct experiments to create new materials and applications 4. Provide technical support, training or consultation to SUB marketing team and customers 5. Provide technical direction for lab assistants/engineers 6. Collaborate with local universities/institute and drive open innovation 7. Ensure product stewardship and Intellectual Property protection requirements are met

Skills and Knowledge Required: 1. Ph.D in material science, polymer science, chemistry, semiconductor physics or related field 2. Strong background in polymer material synthesis, processing or application development 3. Expertise in Photovoltaic materials, solar cell/module, semiconductor functional film, and bio- based material or relevant material research & development is preferred 4. Expertise in polymer material thermal stability/UV weathering, optical functional film, and permeation property is preferred 5. Excellent communication skill in both Chinese and English 6. Demonstrated capability to create innovative technical solutions
