Newsletter March 2007

It was announced at the Can-Am tournament that Arthur(Badger)Drewes from NH was voted the IAF Armwrestler of the Year for 2006. This award is voted on by the members of the IAF. I just want to say congratulations to Badger for winning and that he truly deserved the honor.

Gary Roberts held a ROTN class at the Can-Am this year with $1,600.00 up for grabs. The class was 161 to 185. There were six entries: Kyle Sillito and Denis Dubreuil from Canada, Ken McKinney from NY, Jon Vinikoor from PA, Greg Sharon from VT. and Michael Selearis from NY. There were some tough fought matches with Michael Selearis taking 1st place and $700.00. Denis Dubreuil took 2nd place. There were also two Challenge matches at this years event. Pete Milano from CT against Paul Maiden from England and Jim Bryan from NJ against Frank Hirst from CT. Both were best 3 out of 5. Pete Milano won his challenge 3-0 as Paul was injured and had to withdraw. Frank Hirst was down 2-0 and won three straight to win his challenge. We want to wish Paul Maiden the very best and hope he makes a speedy recovery. He told me that he had a great time and will be back next year for sure.

I am working on the update for the Women's Ranking. I am waiting for the Ladies on the Panel to send me their picks. As soon as this is finished the results will be updated on the Women's Ranking Page: http://iaf1.homestead.com/rank Hopefully this will be done in the next week depending on how fast I receive the lists.

The bid information for hosting the USAF Unified Nationals should be sent out to the USAF Member Associations by next week. If any member association doesn't receive their bid info in the next week or so should call me @ 508-947-8958 or e-mail [email protected]. If any promotor or association is interested in becoming a member of the USAF they can download an application for membership on the IAF site, there is also an application there to join the IAF if interested. Http://iaf1.homestead.com

For a full list of upcoming events and past results you should check out the IAF site, the Northeast Board( http://northeastboard.com ) or the USAF site( http://armwrestling.com ). Also of interest to armwrestlers should be Arm TV. It has film of armwrestling events from all over the world. This is a good tool for armwrestlers to check out opponent styles that they would never see. You can join at http://armtv.com or on the USAF site.
