5 Biggest Employers Of Indian IT TCS TCS is among the world's largest employers in the technology sector, with over 3 lakh employees. According to the company, it has over 319,000 employeesspread across 46 countries. The company is also expected to hire about 60,000 employees in its current financial year.

Infosys Infosys is the second-largest India-based IT services company going by 2014 revenues and has a 1,76,187-strong workforce. Globally, Infosys has 85 sales and marketing offices and 100 development centers (as of March 31, 2015).

IBM Tech giant IBM has over 4.3 lakh employees worldwide. The company's Indian subsidiary, said to be among one of the biggest IT employers, is reported to have over 1.5 lakh employees in the country.

Wipro IT consulting company has 158,217 employees (as of March 31, 2015). It was incorporated on December 29, 1945, in Mumbai by Azim Premji as 'Western India Vegetable Products Limited, later abbreviated to Wipro. The company entered IT services industry in 1990s and today serves clients in 175-plus cities across six continents.

Accenture Accenture recently shot past Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in headcount in its latest quarter. According to the company's chief financial officer, David Rowland, Accenture ended the quarter with a global headcount of about 336,000 people, and it now has approximately 237,000 people in its global delivery network. The company also plans to hire 95,000 in FY2015. Though India-specific figures are not available, Accenture is counted among top tech employers in the country.

Google Docs Adds Hindi Voice Dictation, Research Tool and More

Google has now introduced many new features, at the very right time when a new academic year for the Americans begins. The feature will now let users type an essay or assignment just by dictating.

The new feature is called “voice typing” and has been added to Google Docs. All you have to do to check it out is, just open a new document, click on the Tools menu and select “Voice typing.” Once done, you need to click on the microphone tab and get started. As per Google, this function will support 40 different languages. For the love of Indian users, it will even support Hindi.

To all up to all this, Google has even added some powerful new features to its cloud-based office suite. This step is certainly going to make some applications more appealing to those in the classroom. However, what we see as a negative here is that Google Docs word processor is not yet set in place for Android. The only way to access it is by desktop users who use Google Chrome’s browser.

Going ahead with the voice-typing feature, it will only type what you say. The drawback here is that it cannot tell you what punctuation marks are needed or where they are to be placed. As the user dictates the text in the content, he will even have to dictate where commas, periods and other punctuation marks are to be placed. This would probably be the ideal format for people who just take down running notes.

Wipro to Add 1000 Employees At Bhubaneswar Centre in Three Months

Wipro unveiled its mega recruitment plan after state govt warned of taking back 26 acres of land allotted to the firm in a prime location over its tardy progress IT major Wipro is likely to add 1000 employees to its development centre here, over and above its current headcount of around 200 within a span of three months. .

“Issues related to building plan approval for Wipro have been sorted out. The software major has assured us it will recruit 1000 more employees for its Bhubaneswar centre in three months”, said a highly placed government source. Wipro officials were not immediately available for comments. Wipro is setting up a new G+5 tower in the first phase that will house the additional 1000 employees. Recently, the IT bellwether had committed a massive expansion plan for its Bhubaneswar centre, announcing an overall headcount of 28,000.

“The teams have worked out a detailed engineering plan for the next phase. On receipt of the SEZ approval, we will apply for building plan approval with the state government and begin the construction for 4,000 employees immediately on obtaining the permission. The centre is planned for 28,000 employees with 2.8 million square feet of built-up space,” T K Kurien, chief executive officer of Wipro, said in a recent letter to Odisha's IT minister Pranab Prakash Das.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai Extends support To 'Digital India'

India-born Google CEO Sundar Pichai took to YouTube to back Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Digital India' campaign focused on connecting 1.2 billion people in the country and said his company would play its part in supporting the initiative. "There is tremendous excitement among Googlers, Indians in US for PM Modi's visit," Pichai said, welcoming Modi to the Silicon Valley.

"It is an honour to welcome PM Narendra Modi to Silicon Valley this weekend," the 43-year-old IIT alumnus said, adding "I hope PM Modi's visit will energise people in the Silicon Valley." "The bond between India and the Silicon Valley is strong. India has long been an exporter of talent to tech companies.

The products built by Indian graduates from IIT and other institutions have helped revolutionize the world. But it is India that's now undergoing its own revolution," he said, adding Prime Minister Modi's 'Digital India' campaign is central to this revolution. Lauding Digital India initiative, Pichai said, "This will get people in rural areas online. Low cost of bandwidth, offline strategy, affordable phones will connect more people." "It focuses on connecting the 1.2 billion people in India. It has received tremendous support in India and in Silicon Valley," Pichai, who became the CEO of the internet search giant in August, said.

Java is the programming language with the highest average salary

Java is the programming language with the highest average wage for UK developers, according to a report from salary benchmarking site Emolument. The report, which surveyed 1,500 developers in eight countries including the UK, Germany and the US, found that Java developers earn the most, with the average salary per developer in the UK at £51,000. This was followed by C++ (£49,000), then Python (£43,000).

Globally, Emolument found that developers in the US earn the most, with the average salary there at £66,000. This was followed by the UK (£41,000) and then Ireland (£35,000). The lowest-paying country for developers is Spain with an average salary at £21,000.The report also found that developers in the finance sector are paid the most in the UK, with average salaries for this vertical at £52,000. The public sector is the lowest-paying industry for developers (£33,000).

Imperial College London produces the best-paid developers (£53,000). University College London (£45,000) came second, followed by Bristol University (£43,000).Alice Leguay, chief operating officer at Emolument, said developers' salaries are very varied. "It seems that the perfect formula is to graduate from Imperial College before getting a job as a Java developer at a top finance firm. And move to the US," she said. "It is striking to see how inefficient this market is when it comes to salaries, with a very uneven distribution curve.

It's perhaps one of the most important letters in the world — but nobody's entirely sure what it means.The 'i' at the start of iPhone is one of its defining features. And it mostly refers to "internet", though not entirely, and the story of how it got there is slightly more complicated.

The naming convention was first introduced with the iMac. Launched in 1998, the computer marked the beginning of the modern Apple.Introducing that computer, Steve Jobs said that the computer was targeted at the "number one use that the consumers say they want to use the computer for": the internet. It was launched just as the internet was catching on and was made central in the computer's advertising.

"Even though this is a full-blooded Macintosh, we are targeting this for the number one use that consumers tell us they want a computer for, which is to get on the internet -- simply, and fast," he said at the time. "And that is what this product is targeted for."

But that was far from the only meaning of the "i", Mr Jobs said. During the launch, he showed a slide with a number of different headings: Internet, individual, instruct, inform, inspire."'i' also means some other things to us," he said. "We are a personal computer company, and although this product is born to network, it also is a beautiful stand-alone product. We are targeting it also for education. They want to buy these. And it is perfect for most of the things they do in instruction."

The company would go on to brand almost all of its products with the little letter. Software such as iTools and hardware including the iPod all talk on the name. (It still isn't entirely clear where the rest of the iPod name originated from.)It would prove a slightly controversial name, leading to legal proceedings with Cisco, since it had a product with the same name.

The prefix has perhaps lost some of its shine in recent years. Many of Apple's recent products — including the Apple TV and the Apple Watch — have picked up a new naming convention, dropping the 'i' entirely and opting instead for their generic name on its own, sometimes accompanied by Apple's half-eaten logo.
