1. Significantly Increase HPV Vaccination Among Female Adolescents Aged 10-18

Cervical Cancer Free America is a multi-year, multi-state initiative that is building a broad public health strategy to eliminate cervical cancer through vaccination, screening and access to effective treatment. Since its inception in January 2010, CCF America has grown to involve the states of North Carolina, Alabama, California, Kentucky, Indiana, and Texas. It currently covers 10 million women in the target age group and 30% of all cervical cancer cases in the US. More states – as well as private-sector partners – are eager to join this critical, high-profile public health initiative.

Shared goals:

1. Significantly increase HPV vaccination among female adolescents aged 10-18

2. Significantly increase cervical cancer screening among women aged 25-70 who have not been screened in the last 4 years

CCF America recruits and brings together public health experts from member states to work in partnership to plan and develop both across-state projects and interventions and education programs within home states. CCF America provides a network of communication allowing for efficient sharing of resources and ideas. The states involved in CCF America are building towards a national campaign with a common logo, data collection system and framework for action. To further facilitate individual state projects, CCF America acts as a clearinghouse to share effective practice and actively disseminate ideas and materials. CCF America also partners with community and government organizations at the state and national level to further promote our state and national goals.

The Cervical Cancer Free initiative is the first effort of its kind to end a cancer in our lifetime. It is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from GlaxoSmithKline, which is helping to create one of the public health success stories of this century. CCF America anticipates making lasting changes in US healthcare systems and policies relevant to cervical cancer prevention and treatment. As it develops, the initiative will secure funding from the public and private sectors and elicit commitments from a number of large companies to become cervical cancer free workplaces. Each state involved in CCF America has also set its own specific goals. CCF America provides a support mechanism to support states in reaching their individual aims.

No one should die from cervical cancer. Vaccination, screening and treatment can end or substantially reduce cervical cancer in America.
