Concerning your notification of (date) for Parental Leave.

The University of Oslo hereby grants you Parental Leave in your position as (title) at (unit).

The leave is for 35 weeks with full salary/45 weeks with 80 % salary, (the total of 47/57 weeks include 12 weeks paternity quota) which to this date is calculated from (three weeks before expected date of birth) and up to (date).

Please send a copy of the birth certificate to (the local personnel officer) as soon as possible after birth, to ensure that the correct period for the Parental Leave can be determined.

Add if the leave concerns the father when the child’s mother is a student:

Approved 30.06.2011 If the child’s mother is a student, she must send NAV Trygd a confirmation of the admission and paid registration fee. She must also send a confirmation that she has started her studies and that her education is eligible for funding through the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. This documentary evidence must be submitted before the university is refunded the Parental Leave money from NAV Trygd. When claiming coverage of the father’s quota for the father who lives with the student, the father’s NAV Trygd must also be in possession of the same documentary evidence.

According to the tariff agreement of 1 January 2003 regarding employees rights’ in Statens Pensjonskasse (the Norwegian State Pension Fund), this period of leave counts as part of you pension-giving service time. (See Statens personalhåndbok).

In regard to the salary payment, we ask you to be aware that your return must be confirmed by your local head of unit through a written statement to the Pay Section.

If you do not wish to return to your position at the end of your leave, please inform your unit three months prior to the end of the leave period.
