COLONEL GLEN R. DOWNING

Colonel Glen Downing is Commander, Air Force ROTC Detachment 905 and Professor of Aerospace Studies at Washington State University, Pullman, Washington. His responsibilities include recruiting, educating and training cadets in preparation for active duty service as commissioned officers in the United States Air Force through academic instruction in Air Force doctrine, history and national security studies, as well as practical experience in all aspects of leadership and officership.

Colonel Downing is a native of Nevada, Iowa. He was commissioned in 1989 through Air Force ROTC at Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering. The colonel completed specialized undergraduate navigator training in 1991 and is a 1996 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School. With more than 1,800 total flight hours, Colonel Downing has served in operations Provide Promise, Southern Watch, Allied Force, and Enduring Freedom. He has commanded a squadron, served as vice commander of a wing, and held multiple positions on the headquarters staff of Air Mobility Command and in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force.
