Matters Arising

Agreed the Minutes from the last meeting to be true on 25th January 2016.

Dr Waldin attended the meeting and discussed five areas with the group:  The new Diabetes Tier Service: How this will work and benefit the patients. The practice will be providing Tier 3 which is the highest level and training is being provided for clinical staff by the CCG members in April.  Referrals: Demand Management monitor the practices to make sure we are referring appropriately, also the new guidance for the IFR (Individual Funding Requests) process, referrals now include e.g. (Knee Replacements, Repair of Lobe of External Ear. Asymptomatic Cholecystectomy).  Proposed Ward Closures in North Durham i.e. Bowes Lyon Ward, Lanchester Road. Patients are very concerned re travel and hope to attend future collaborative meetings in order to discuss the implications for patients and their families.  Organic mental disorder (OMD), also known as organic brain syndrome or chronic organic brain syndrome, is a form of decreased mental function due to a medical or physical disease, rather than a psychiatric illness. This differs from dementia.  Urgent Care Initiative - Events being held across the three Localities. Three Options presented for the Durham Dales. PPG members queried why the two existing Community Hospitals and Bishop Auckland Hospital were not included in the Options being presented.

The PPG and the Practice discussed the Friends and Family Test Results

1 st January 2016 to 31 st March 2016- Kiosk results were discussed. The percentages were as below:-

79.25% = 42 patients Extremely likely to recommend the practice 16.98% = 9 patients were likely to recommend the practice 1.89% = 1 patient neither likely nor unlikely to recommend the practice 1.89% = 1 patient unlikely to recommend the practice

 53- Responses from 01.01.2016 to 31.03.2016.  44 - Responses gave consent to publish comments.  3 comments were discussed at the meeting:  Two of the comments discussed were the same and were regarding waiting times for appointments: This is sometimes out of our control due to an emergency or (serious complication in a consultation which cannot be avoided). Patients are informed of delays and given the option to rebook their appointment rather than wait.  We had one comment regarding waiting 20 minutes for an acute prescription; This can also be challenging for the Dispenser who is dealing with three or four GP's sometimes issuing an acute prescription, dealing with items owed to patients and the general ordering which is all happening at the same time. We do our best to accommodate every eventuality and would ask our patients to bear with us at busy periods. We only have the interests of our patients at heart. No comments in the Suggestion Box this month. We used comments from the Kiosk

Practice Newsletter will include - Dog fouling (Health Implications); Car Parking in the surgery appropriately and with consideration; Elephant Kiosk Information; SMS Messaging (reminder texts for patients appointments); Saturday Opening; Patient Online Access Information; Stop Before Your Op (Smoking Service); Health Checks, Travel Vaccines,
