Monday--- Day 3 Morning Message---Students will copy, complete, and correct sentences from the board. Oral Reading: Sharing Literature---Teacher will read a poem “How a Puppy Grows” aloud to the class and ask questions over the text. Phonemic Awareness---Students will learn the /ou/ sound. Students will identify the number of sounds in words the teacher says. Word Work: Phonics---Students will generate the sound for /ou/ /ow/. Students will have to blend sounds into words from list of word building words. Students will read simple, regular words. Spelling---Students will state the generalization of words with /ou/ and /ow/. Teacher will write the words on the board and students will read the words aloud. High Frequency Words---Students will review the following words: any, took Vocabulary Review: busy, care, Dr. eight Word Power: Words to Remember page 154-155 Harcourt Text Reading---“On the Job with Dr. Martha Smith” pages 154-179 Students will reread the story for fluency and think and respond questions at the end of the selection. Students will read about the author and illustrator. Making connections page 180-181: Students will read and choose one of the three choices to do in class. Decodable Book 24 “Bow-Wow Hound” and “The Grouchy Mice”. Teacher will read aloud to the class. Language Arts: Students will write sentences with describing words. Students will use color, size, and shape words to describe what they are wearing. Grammar: Students will review describing words taste, smell, sound, and feel.

Tuesday--- Day 4 Morning Message---Students will copy, complete, and correct sentences from the board. Oral Reading: Sharing Literature---Teacher will read a poem “Cats” aloud to the class and ask questions over the text. Phonemic Awareness--- Phoneme Substitution and Focus on sound /ou/ . Word Work: Phonics---Students will recognize the sound-letter relationships /ou/ and /ow/. Students will read and write words with /ou/ and /ow/. Students will do practice workbook page 52. Spelling---Students will use what they have learned to spell words with the /ou/ and /ow/. Review: does, once Students will unscramble the letters to make the two words correctly. High Frequency Words---Students will review the following words: any, took Teacher will have the students write the high frequency words by using the words in story context. Vocabulary: busy, care, Dr., eight Students will write words in story context. Word Power: Words to Remember page 154-155 Harcourt Text Reading---“On the Job with Dr. Martha Smith” pages 154-179 Students will reread the story for fluency and think and respond questions at the end of the selection. Students will focus on understanding how to classify/categorize information in a story. Students will read from textbook page 182-183 and answer the test prep questions on paper. Students will do practice workbook page 53. Language Arts: How-to Paragraph Students will write the revised paragraph correctly. Grammar Review: Describing Words: Taste, Smell, Sound, Feel

Wednesday--- Day 5 Morning Message---Students will copy, complete, and correct sentences from the board. Oral Reading: Sharing Literature---Teacher will reread the big book “On a Hot, Hot Day”. Phonemic Awareness---Phoneme Blending and Focus on /ou/, /n/, /nd/ Word Work: Phonics---Phonograms –own, -ound. Students will discriminate between words with different patterns and use common vowel spelling patterns to read words. Students will complete practice workbook page 54. Spelling---Students will write words with /ou/ and /ow/ on paper as the teacher says the word and sentence with the words aloud in class. Students will write and illustrate sentences frames that the teacher writes on the white board. High Frequency Words---Students will review the following words: any, took Vocabulary: busy, Dr. care, eight Students will have to write a sentence using the words in sentences. Word Power: Words to Remember page 154-155 Harcourt Text Reading---“On the Job with Dr. Martha Smith” pages 154-179 Students will reread the story for fluency and think and respond questions at the end of the selection. Students will read along with the CD and focus on fluency. Students will take the story test in class. Self-Selected Reading: Students will cut and fold the book “Billy Brown’s Lunch” page 81-82 as part of independent reading. Language Arts: Students will copy and illustrate the how to paragraph. Phonemic Awareness---Phoneme Isolation and Focus on long vowel/i/ Word Work: Phonics---Students will generate the long vowel /i/ sound of y and ie. Students will build words using known letters and sounds. Students will read simple, regular words. Spelling---Practice workbook pg 55. Students will learn to spelling long vowel /i/ words. Phonics practice page 56. Vocabulary: once High Frequency Words---Students will review the words: does. Reading---Decodable Book 25: “Let’s Fly” “Fried Fish and Apple Pie” Language Arts: Animal Book Students will use sentence frames to tell about an animal they see. Grammar: Introduce Describing Words: How Many Practice Workbook page 57.
