Supplies All students are required to bring the following supplies to class every day. This includes students who will be receiving a laptop:  Spiral  Loose leaf paper  Pencil and Eraser Students who pay the deposit/insurance before August 24th will receive their laptops on August 30th. Students who pay later will receive their laptops sometime later. Prior to receiving their laptops, students need to bring a 3-ring binder or folder to keep notes and classwork organized. Students who choose not to check out a laptop will be expected to continue bringing a binder/folder.

Klein Independent School District Textbooks Students should check out a text book to keep at home. They do NOT need to bring it to school each day. The book is also available on CD or online, however I highly encourage students to pick up a book. Students should be aware that computer/internet problems will not excuse them from homework assignments. Students may log-on to the book at http://my.hrw.com

Teacher-Led Tutoring After-school Tutoring will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays (2:30-3:30) of each week. Students should talk to me if another time needs to be scheduled.

Tests and Reteach/ Retest Standard test days are Mondays and Thursdays. Tests are allowed on other days with principal approval. 3 Unit Tests will be given each six weeks. Students will also generally take a summative test at the end of the six weeks. The average of these grades will make up the major grade component.

Summative assessments are typically given each six weeks. Summative tests are cumulative and serve as retesting over concepts covered during the six weeks. If the summative assessment score is higher than a six weeks unit test, it will serve as a replacement grade to give the student an opportunity to improve his/her overall average.

A student can decide to do test corrections to raise their grade on a unit test. ALL problems missed must be solved on a SEPARATE sheet of paper with all work shown. Half credit will be given for problems corrected.

Projects If students are assigned a project it may fit into the Quiz/Daily category, or the Major grade category.

Student Absence Procedure Students are allowed the same number of days that they were absent to make-up homework. If you know in advance you’ll be absent, please let me know.

If a test is missed, the student should make it up as soon as possible to maximize performance. Two weeks is the typical make-up time limit for testing.

Late Work Procedure Homework received late will be graded 25 points off the first day, with an additional 10 points off for each additional day.

Daily Work and Projects received late will attain a penalty of 10 points off per day late.
