 Grade and Salary: £12,442- £13,572 Variable hours up to 35 per week

Seasonal Beach patrol /Toilet attendant

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) is seeking Beach Patrol staff with responsibility for the toilet facilities at Aberdour Silver Sands. They will ensure the safety of beach users whilst maintaining the cleanliness of toilet facilities. The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring the safe supervision of beach users in Fife. In accordance with the Beach Safety Operating Procedures.

The post will be based at Aberdour Silver Sands

Job Purpose  To ensure a safe & enjoyable environment for users of Fife’s beaches.  To aid in the keeping clean of the foreshore and other associated facilities/areas.

Key Responsibilities

 Monitoring activity on the foreshore  Initiating rescue procedures for beach users in difficulty  The hoisting of appropriate safety flags  Liaising with beach users and other operators  Administering first aid to the public  Litter patrolling and checking of bins in the area to ensure cleanliness at all times  Promoting environmental initiatives  Maintenance of toilet blocks  Advising any issues as soon as possible to the Beaches and Coastal Officer or appropriate contact in the Trust’s headquarters.

The Person The successful candidate will be flexible in their attitude to work practices. Experience of dealing with members of the public would be desirable as would the ability to control beach related recreational facilities safely.

This post is subject to a PVG Scheme record.

General This post may include variable working patterns each week including weekends with a rest day agreed at interview. FCCT reserve the right to allocate other duties of equivalent grade and status as determined by the workload of the organisation.

Holiday entitlement (pro rata) is currently 24 days plus 8 days Public Holiday (rising to 29 days after the completion of five years’ service) The Trust does not provide accommodation to successful candidates.

Performance measures  Demonstrate competence after in house training for the RLSS Emergency Response Open Water Award including an independent assessment  Areas kept clean and free from litter  Toilet Blocks maintained to a high standard  Completion and recording of daily task sheets  Compliance with Beach Safety Operating Procedures PERSON SPECIFICATION
