Cranberry Bake - Off Contest Rules and Information

CRANBERRY BAKE - OFF CONTEST RULES AND INFORMATION

The Cranberry Bake – Off will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Mount Peyton Hotel. Below are the contest rules and basic information:

 Entries should be delivered to the registration desk at the Mount Peyton Hotel between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.

 Judging begins at 9 am.

 Awards ceremony will be held at next council meeting

Categories

1. Cakes, Pies and Loafs

2. Cookies, Tarts and Muffins

Criteria for judging: General appearance, moisture, texture, flavor, and use of local cranberries.

CONTEST RULES

1. No professional bakers, please.

2. ONLY LOCAL CRANBARRIES MUST BE USED FOR THIS CONTEST. PLEASE CONTACT LLOYD WARFORD TO GET LOCAL BERRIES. 489-0468 BEFORE 4:00 pm FRIDAY, OCT 24th.

3. Each contestant may enter only one item.

4. All baked goods must be fully baked at the time of registration.

5. Baked goods are to be prepared in a sanitary manner.

6. No commercial or box mixes may be used.

7. All entries must be placed on a paper plate enclosed in a Ziploc bag or covering.

8. You may use your own dish, with your name on the bottom, and at your own risk.

9. Any leftover items are for public tasting.

10. If entering a cake, please enter an entire cake.

11. If entering cookies, please enter one dozen cookies.

12. If entering cupcakes, please enter one dozen cupcakes.

13. Each entry should be marked with a name of your baked good when you register on the day of the contest (for example, Cranberry Muffin). 14. Entries must be accompanied by the recipe used to bake it. Judges will use the recipe as part of their information for judging. Also, with your permission, the recipes will be highlighted on the town website for distribution to the public.

15. Contest open to residents of the Exploits Valley only.

Winners in each category will receive $150.00 and there recipe will be highlighted on the Towns website.
