Dear Families,

If you are new to Ben Franklin High School, welcome!! If you are one of our returning students, then welcome BACK! Here at Benjamin Franklin High School, we are busy getting ready to welcome students on Monday, August 26th, the first day of the new school year.

As we make plans for the coming year, we wanted to let you know about an improvement in our school’s daily schedule: For 2013-14, the school day will start at 8:00 and end at 2:55 Monday through Friday.

This change affects the length of time your child will be in school and learning each day. Instructional time has been shortened on a daily basis, but with the addition of a full day of school on Friday, your child will actually be receiving more time in academic classes on a weekly basis. We will also be incorporating extended learning time on Wednesday afternoons beginning in October. This will provide all students with access to additional instructional time to further develop their skills in Math and English. This schedule improvement was made to address the feedback we received from families on ways we could further improve our instructional program.

We are truly excited for your return to school and we want to make sure your student gets off to a tremendous start this year! If you have any questions which can help your student ease back into the new school year, please call the school office at 410-396-1373.

Come join us for our Open House on Friday August 23rd from 1 to 3PM! There is no formal program, just an opportunity for you to tour the building, meet the staff, and purchase uniform shirts!
