Work Experience:

1998 – Present Cox Communications Las Vegas, NV Systems Engineer I am currently a Systems Engineer for our High Speed Data Department. My duties include writing software for system and traffic alalysis, PHP/SNMP/SQL tools for trouble shooting large cable modem networks, TACACS+ Administration, Linux/Unix System Administration, programming a database for tracking circuits, and trouble tickets, plus many other responsibilities. Currently I am writing data analysis tools for trending analysis, and monitoring system load for the launch of VOIP telephony service in Las Vegas. Technical Supervisor of High Speed Data As Technical Supervisor of High Speed Data, I was to handle difficult issues that the rep could not handle whether it is technical or an irate customer. I also interviewed and hired new techs and did most of the training of new technicians, create and maintain schedules and deal with Human Resource issues. I worked closely with the engineering dept and created useful web- based tools such as a Knowledge Base, Trouble Ticket System, tools to query DOCSIS UBR’s for cable modem information, I also implemented a web-based DNS Administration tool for the DNS Administrator, written in PHP, utilizing Apache and MySQL. Lead Technical support Rep As a lead tech my duties were to make sure that all of the more difficult problems were handled appropriately. I would take calls from techs that could not resolve a technical problem and troubleshoot them; I would also go into the field and fix installations that failed previously. Training new tech support reps was also one of my major duties as lead. High-Speed Internet Technician As a high-speed data technician, I would install network interface cards and configure computers for use on one of the largest cable modem networks in the U.S. My job also entailed dealing directly with the local servers, NMAPS, POP3, SMTP, and DNS. Some of the time was also spent troubleshooting and resolving hardware/software problems with the customer's computers, also coordinating technicians out in the field was a part of my daily responsibilities.

1996 – 1998 Earthlink Network Pasadena, CA Tier 2 Technical Support Supervisor Technical Support/Senior Technical Support My duties as a Tier 2 technical supervisor included handling more difficult calls including Linux/Unix support calls and irate callers, supervising and maintaining a technical call center, create schedules, and persevere a great work environment. I also assisted the Abuse department with locating malicious users. As a technical support representative, my duties included TCP/IP connectivity support for multiple platforms, support for any TCP/IP based software, strong understanding of UNIX commands, FTP, and Telnet, while maintaining a very high-resolution rate. 1992 – 1996 Pacific Coast One-Stop Northridge, CA Manager As a Manager at Pacific Coast One-Stop, I was in charge of all scheduling, inventory and employee relations. Dealing with angry customers in a confident manner I could easily help to defuse their anger. I also was in charge of human resources at the location, opening the store and closing the business was also part of this position, I also received some of my basic UNIX knowledge here by running backups and doing some minor system maintenance.

1991 – 1992 Trompeter Electronics Westlake Village, CA Cable/Hardware assembly While working at Trompeter I was in charge of maintaining an assembly line of 20+ employees which produced Coax, Triax, and Quadrax cable for use in television and high-speed networks. Also did some soldering , assembly work, and quality assurance.

1990 - 1991 Kavlico Electronics Moorpark, CA Electronic Assembly A lot of the work I did at Kavlico, was creating printed circuit boards for use in some aircraft. I would solder mask the boards and then solder components on the circuit boards.

Personal: Enjoy snowboarding, playing musical instruments, reading, studying computer science, and programming/scripting in PHP/SQL/C#.
