The New Generation of Chain Lubrication Systems

Lincoln, the leading manufacturer of centralized lubrication systems, presents the new generation of the reputable COBRA and PMA chain lubrication systems.

Despite new types of material and technology, many chains still require lubrication. Proper lubrication reduces friction and the subsequent wear of the chain. Lincoln’s newly optimized system solutions (grease or oil) for chains that require lubrication, offer accurate and finely metered quantities of lubricant.

The PMA system is used in all industry sectors for small to medium sized chains; and the COBRA series is especially suitable for the lubrication of heavy-duty conveyors and conveyor chains. This enables Lincoln to offer custom-tailored solutions for the full range of chain lubrication.

The “COBRA 1X” system was specially developed for the lubrication of heavy- duty conveyor chains and conveyor lines. The system can supply either NLGI class 2 grease or oil.

The new drive technology as well as a newly designed lubrication head, provides two key advantages:  The load subjected to the chain is substantially lower. As a result, the chain and lubrication nipples wear less  A higher maximum lubricant pressure of up to 150 bar is possible, thus blocked or carbonised lubrication points are pressed open

The newly designed lubrication head enables an exact metering from 0.2 cm³ to 2 cm³ per lubrication cycle, and the adjusting screw permits infinite metering adjusting within this range. Visual monitoring of the lubrication head function is performed via the movement of an indicator pin.

The COBRA 1X system is sturdy. The required controller components have also been minimized for the automated stop-start versions. This makes the COBRA 1X long-lasting and comprehendible when it comes to the control technology.

Typical applications for the COBRA are conveyor systems in steel and cement plants and in the manufacturing of paper, paint systems in the automobile industry, as well as chains that are used in open pit and underground mining.

The “PMA 2” is a solenoid pump for the contact-free oil lubrication of chains. The lubrication with an exact metered quantity of oil occurs while the chain is in motion.

In comparison to its predecessor, the new pump is characterized by a compact design and by its attractive price-to performance ratio. One key enhancement is the higher cycle frequency – now maximum of 5 Hertz – so that even fast running chains can be lubricated trouble-free.

The capacity of the pump has also been increased to 6 outlets from previously only 4. In addition to the conventional nozzles, a newly developed double-nozzle is also available, which further increase the number of points served by the pump.

A new solenoid magnet with improved performance and a longer duty-cycle enable the pump to operate in extreme high or low temperature conditions.

The pump is also available in a new 120 VAC version. Optional electrical monitoring is possible via a proximity switch. Additional accessories include a 13 liter and a 36 liter reservoir for oil. Both reservoirs are equipped with electrical low-level control and a large filling port comprising a strainer.
