2015 OHIO FFA AGRISCIENCE FAIR

Ohio’s Date, Location and Time  The State Agriscience Fair will be held in conjunction with the 2015 Ohio FFA Convention on the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus.  Deadline for submitting entry is Wednesday, April 1, 2015 by 4:00 pm. No students will be added after April 1. New for 2015: Students will be required to electronically submit the application and full written report. Judges score sheets and rubric (written report) are posted on the Ohio FFA website. The scores from the written report score sheet (100 pts.) will be added to the score from the interview score sheet (100 pts). The combined score (200 pts.) will determine the students' placings and ratings for each category and division. The ratings are as follows: Gold: 200 – 180 Bronze: 159 - 140 Silver: 179 - 160 Honorable Mention: 139 and below  The complete report and full application must be printed and available for the judges during the interview on April 30th. 1st place Gold rated projects being sent on to National FFA will need to be the original document, printed on good quality paper and mailed or dropped off to Patti Guseman, Ohio FFA Association, 25 S. Front Street, MS#603, Columbus OH 43215 by June 12th at 4:00 pm.  There will be a report critique on Friday, May 29th for entries moving on to prescreening at National.  Chapters will be charged a $25.00 NO SHOW fee per student that submits an application but fails to exhibit at State FFA Convention.  All exhibits will be located in the Bricker Building. Tables will be provided. NO electricity will be available for use by the exhibitors.  All exhibits must be in place no later than 9:00 am, Thursday, April 30th.  Judging will begin promptly at 9:00 am, Thursday, April 30th.  Exhibits are to remain on display until Friday 6:00 pm, May 1st.  ALL exhibitors earning 1st, 2nd or 3rd place will be recognized at the Friday afternoon, 3:00 pm convention session. Eligibility Requirements 1. Competition is open to all FFA members in grades 7-12. There are four divisions. * Division I - open to individual members in grades 7, 8 and 9 * Division II - open to individual members in grades 10, 11, and 12 * Division III - for teams of two members in grades 7, 8, and 9 * Division IV - for teams of two members in grades 10, 11 and 12 Grade is determined at the time of qualification at the state level. Ohio FFA Chapters in good standing may have unlimited entries. Students in grades 7 and 8 will now qualify for National competition. 2. There are six Categories as defined by the National rules: * Animal Systems * Plant Systems * Environmental Services/Natural Resource Systems * Power, Structural and Technical Systems * Food Products and Processing Systems * Social Systems 3. Each member and/or team may enter only one project. A team is a maximum of two members working cooperatively on the same project. Successive year projects must indicate change or growth in the project from the previous year(s) in their log books. Displays are to reflect the current year's work only. 4. Each participant is required to meet with the judges to explain their project. The interview process will not exceed fifteen minutes. The interview schedule will be emailed to teachers by Friday, April 17th. 5. Exhibited projects and project reports shall be the result of the student(s) own efforts. 6. The “1st place Gold rated” exhibitor in each division of the six categories, will be Ohio’s entry to National for prescreening before moving on to compete at the national level. NOTE: These exhibitors will participate in the national prescreening process and only the top 15 applicants in each category and division will be certified to participate at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky - October 2015. 7. Students who have previously exhibited at the National Agriscience Fair, can NOT participate in the same “Category/Division.”
