SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS: If I have to be out of school, a substitute teacher will be informed of the lesson plan for the day and will receive instruction from me as to the types of activities or assignments that need to be completed. Students will be expected to be cooperative, courteous, and comply with a substitute teacher’s instructions. In the event a substitute teacher reports that a student was uncooperative or disruptive, detention may be assigned by me, a student may be referred to their assistant principal, and/or parent notification may occur. With your cooperation, the substitute teacher’s experience at Crosby High School will be a pleasant one.

Class Procedures 1. Make-up Assignments: You are responsible for ALL missed assignments. Hanging file folders are on the wall labeled by class period and days of the week. It is your responsibility to pick up any work you missed for the days that you were absent. If you have questions about the make-up work then you need to ask your fellow classmates those questions first. If for any reason your questions cannot be answered by your classmates then you may come and speak to me about the homework at the END OF CLASS. Do not waste class time with questions the other students can assist with. According to school policy, makeup work is due in the number of days that you were absent (ex. You missed two days; therefore, your work will be due in two days.) ***MAKE-UP WORK NOT TAKEN CARE OF BY DEADLINE WILL RESULT IN A ZERO. *** 2. Make-up Tests: If you miss a test day then you will be responsible for making up that test by making arrangements to take it on the next available tutorial day (ex. If you missed a test on Tuesday then you will need to make up the test by that following Thursday, or if you missed a test on Thursday then you need to make it up by that following Tuesday.) This is plenty of time to make up your test, so there will be NO EXCEPTIONS!! ***MAKE-UP TESTS NOT TAKEN CARE OF BY DEADLINE WILL RESULT IN A ZERO. *** 3. Daily Work: Full credit for a daily assignment may only be earned if the work is turned in on the due date. Homework will be due at the beginning of class the next day. If for any reason work is not turned in by the due date the following will ensue: 1 day late = 70% 2 days late = 50% 3 days late = 0 Please note - daily work turned in at the end of the school day will be deemed as late work. 4. Quizzes: Note quizzes and/or map quizzes will be assigned at the teacher’s discretion. Thorough note taking and completion of maps is a requirement of this course and will be checked through the use of announced note and/or map quizzes. 5. Grading Procedures: Daily Grades (daily work, quizzes, maps, etc.) = 50% of Six Weeks Average Test Grades (tests & projects) = 50% of Six Weeks Average 6. Presentation of Work: Use ONLY blue or black pen for all work turned in for a grade. Ten points will be deducted for work done in any other color. 7. Major Projects: These will be assigned periodically during the school year. Project due dates will be discussed at the time they are assigned. If you choose to turn in a project after the due date, 10 points will be deducted every day from your project. 8. Tutorials: Available every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:35-3:30. Schedule time with your teacher if you need extra help. 9. Tardies: Are dealt with according to school policy. See your handbook for tardy information. 10.Hall Passes: You have ____ minutes to get to class. If you need to use the restroom or have other business matters then you need to find a way to take care of it before you come into the classroom. I am only going to allow you 3 hall passes for the entirety of the semester. That is one hall pass per six weeks. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Medical conditions that involve frequent restroom usage will require a doctor’s note. 11.Complaints: Do not waste my or other students’ time with complaints. We all have things we don’t like or don’t agree with but hey, it’s life! So, if you feel like you need to make a comment about something pertaining to this class then please do so using the suggestion box. Before or after class you can drop in your “suggestions/complaints” and I will read them and handle them accordingly. 12.Seating: The moment you enter this classroom you need to find your seat. Once you are seated you will begin working immediately on your warm-up. If pencils need to be sharpened it needs to be taken care of before you sit down. Trash must wait to be thrown away at the end of class. You do not have permission to be out of your seat unless you are otherwise instructed. 13.Inappropriate Language: There will be no foul language or racial remarks used in this class. Racial remarks even used in “friendly” or “playful” ways will not be tolerated. Any use of inappropriate language is subject, but not limited to, an automatic detention. Classroom Rules - Important Reminders 1. Students should be in their assigned seats and ready to work when the tardy bell rings. 2. Students will remain on-task and will be engaged in class activities during the entire class period. Teacher detention or AP referrals may be assigned for behavior that is distracting or disruptive. 3. Bring your materials to class everyday. School policy states that students should not be allowed into the halls during classes and they will NOT be allowed to return to their locker for their materials. 4. Stay in your assigned seat during the entire class period unless you are given permission to move. 5. Do not write on books, desks, walls, or chalkboards. 6. Candy, food, and drinks are NOT to be consumed in the room. 7. Tests and quizzes are due when the bell rings. You may not stay after class to finish a quiz or test. A teacher may not give you permission to be late to another teacher’s class.
