The CONSTITUTION of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK Approved March 1, 2017

Article I. Name

The name of the organization shall be the Future Alumni Network; hereinafter referred to as FAN.

Article II. Affiliations

FAN is supported by and sponsored through the Iowa State University Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Leadership Council (SALC). FAN chooses to abide by all rules and regulations administered by Iowa State University and the Iowa State University Alumni Association, as well as state and federal laws.

Article III. Purpose

The purpose and mission of FAN is to connect and involve students with Iowa State University through learning and leadership opportunities, events, services, and Iowa State traditions, while fostering a sense of loyalty and pride.

Article IV. Statement of Compliance

FAN abides by and supports established Iowa State University policies, State and Federal Laws and follows local ordinances and regulations. FAN agrees to annually complete the President’s Training, Treasurer’s Training, and Adviser Training.

Article V.

Iowa State University and FAN do not discriminate on the basis of genetic information, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, race, ethnicity, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or status as a U.S. Veteran.

Article VI. Membership

The CONSTITUTION and BY-LAWS of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK Approved 2/17/2017 Section 1. Enrollment All members must be currently enrolled at Iowa State University and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. Officers and members may not be on conduct probation. All officers must:

A. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) as stated below and meet that minimum GPA in the semester immediately prior to the election/appointment, the semester of election/appointment and semesters during the term of office. For undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, the minimum GPA is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration.

B. Be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the term of office, and at least half time (four or more credits), if a graduate level student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term of office.

C. Be ineligible to hold an office should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in A and B." Section 2. Statement of Non-discrimination Membership in FAN shall be open to all students at Iowa State University.

Section 3. Dues In order to be a member of FAN you must sign up and pay a $20 membership fee.

Section 4. Related Memberships FAN membership and its $20 dues are included in the ISU Athletics All-Sports Package along with membership to Cyclone Alley.

Article VII. Officers

The CONSTITUTION and BY-LAWS of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK Approved 2/17/2017 Section 1. Responsibility All business and activities of FAN shall be the responsibility of the Executive Council.

Section 2. Duties The duties of the Executive Council will be listed in the BYLAWS of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK.

Section 3. Executive Council Membership The members of the Executive Council of SALC shall be: Co-Director, Co-Director, and Treasurer.

Section 4. Adviser The adviser of FAN shall be the Assistant Director for Member Services for the Iowa State University Alumni Association and a non-voting member of the Executive Council.

Section 5. Executive Council Selection The selection of the Executive Council will be based on an application and interview process for all applicants. Applicants will apply for a specific position on the Executive Council. The interview panel shall consist of the current Executive Council officer(s), the adviser, an Alumni Association staff member, and one current Executive Council member. All applications and interviews for the Executive Council will take place in March.

Section 6. Expectations All Executive Council members are held to the following Code of Conduct:

A. I understand that my behavior at all times should be such that it reflects credit to the university, the Alumni Association, SALC, and FAN.

B. I understand that members must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to hold an FAN executive position.

C. I agree to use language that is polite and professional, especially in the office and at SALC, FAN, or Alumni Association events.

E. I understand that my commitment as a member of FAN means that I will make an effort to participate in all events that FAN sponsors.

F. I will not attend an official Iowa State University Alumni Association, SALC, or FAN event having consumed alcohol or controlled substances; nor will I consume alcoholic beverages or controlled substances during these events.

G. I agree to respect the rights of others through my manners, language, and general conduct. I agree to be honest and non- discriminatory and to not take unfair advantage of others. I will act ethically and with fairness.

Section 7. Removal of Executive Council Members A. Members may be removed by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Council. B. Members may be sanctioned or removed by the adviser for a violation of the code of conduct or the rules outlined in this constitution.

Section 8. Filling Vacancies. Vacancies may be filled by the process outlined in Article V Section 5 or through a majority vote of the Executive Council.

Article VIII. Meetings

Section 1. Executive Council Meetings The Executive Council shall meet weekly or as necessary to conduct the business of FAN.

Section 2. Special Meetings Special meetings of the Executive Council shall be called at any time by the C-Directors, Adviser, or by any two members of the Executive Council. All members must be sufficiently notified in advance of any such meeting.

Section 3. Quorum

The CONSTITUTION and BY-LAWS of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK Approved 2/17/2017 Quorum shall consist of two-thirds of the Executive Council.

Article IX. Amendments

Section 1. Constitution The CONSTITUTION of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK shall be amended by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Council. All members shall be notified one regular meeting in advance of any proposed changes.

Section2. By-Laws The BY-LAWS of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK shall be amended by a majority vote of the Executive Council at any regular meeting.

Article X. Ratification

The Constitution and By-Laws of the Future Alumni Network shall be ratified by a two-thirds vote of the executive Council.

Article I. Finance

All monies belonging to FAN shall be deposited and disbursed through the bank accounts established for FAN by the ISU Alumni Association. All funds must be deposited within 24 hours after collection. The staff Adviser must approve and sign each expenditure before payment in accordance with Alumni Association policies.

Article II. Duties of the Officers

Section 1. Co-Directors

The CONSTITUTION and BY-LAWS of the FUTURE ALUMNI NETWORK Approved 2/17/2017 The Co-Directors are responsible for leading, motivating, and recruiting all members of FAN. The Co-Directors oversee all activities and programs of FAN by implementing long-range strategic planning and goals to ensure the overall progress of the organization. The Co- Directors take ultimate responsibility for actions of FAN and may appoint special committees at large as necessary. In addition, the Co- Directors are responsible for: A. Representing FAN among the university administration, offices, and campus organizations B. Conducting meetings of the Executive Council C. Along with the Adviser, serving as the Risk Managers for all FAN events and programs D. Working closely with the adviser and officers to ensure the progress of FAN E. Updating the FAN Constitution and By-Laws F. Attending and supporting FAN events G. Holding office hours (4 hours/week) H. Conducting a transition for the incoming Co- Directors I. Coordinating the efforts of FAN with those of SALC J. Coordinating the tabling and sales efforts for FAN K. Assisting with FAN members discounts and benefits L. Educating all SALC members about FAN

Section 2. Treasurer The Treasurer is responsible for assisting in the Co-Directors in managing the financial status of FAN. The Treasurer is also responsible for: A. Coordinating the financial success of FAN with the appropriate ISU Alumni Association staff members B. Attending and supporting FAN events C. Attending weekly Executive Council meetings D. Holding weekly office hours (4 hours/week) E. Conducting a transition for the incoming Treasurer

Section 3. Adviser The Adviser shall be the Assistant Director for Student Programs for the Alumni Association. The

The adviser will be responsible for: A. Overseeing the selection and training of all officers of FAN B. Attending and providing advice and insight at all FAN meetings, events, and programs C. Attending and supporting all FAN events and programs D. Attending weekly Executive Council meetings E. Holding office hours with each FAN Executive Council member as needed F. Personally providing written authorization for all FAN financial decisions, allocations, and disbursements G. Administering any and all disciplinary actions with the assistance of the Co-Directors
