This Email Is to Give You a Heads up on What Is Going to Be Happening During the Forthcoming

30 August 2015 Hi all

2015/16 Season

We are almost at the start of next season, and we hope everyone has had a great summer. We had a good season last year and have maintained our position in division 2, which is great news.

This email is to give you a heads up on what is going to be happening during the forthcoming season.

1. Start of the Season The new season starts at the club at 10am on Sunday 6 September. Please bring your cheque book so we can get subs all paid up quickly.

2. Subscriptions The subs this year are £110 for an individual and £185 for a family (which is the same as last year). See the link (http://wmrfc.co.uk/howtojoin ) to allow you to pay in advance or print out forms to bring on Sunday. Please ensure you pay early, as otherwise it just creates additional work for us.

3. First team player sponsorship Last season we sponsored Jon White who is a first team player. This cost our age group £200 and meant Jon came down to take some of the training with the boys. We did not bother parents for a contribution to this as we agreed to it after parents had already paid subs etc.

The arrangement is good for us, as the boys get bored of listening to their dads and get coached by someone who is more up to date. It is good for Jon as he gets his subs paid.

This year I would be grateful if parent’s would make a donation towards this. I am proposing £10 per boy. While subs are compulsory, the donation is optional, but would be much appreciated. Please feel free to add it to your subs cheque, but then give it to me direct rather than to the registration desks so I can get credit for the extra £10.

4. Fixtures Attached is the fixture list for next season (please make a note of the matches).

We are trying to have a lighter first half of the season because we are conscious that many boys also have school rugby before Christmas and a heavy session on both Saturday and Sunday can be a struggle. We will bear this in mind, so training on the Sunday in the first half of the season is likely to be lighter.

1 As with previous seasons please remember that while the priority for friendly games is that all boys get as much game time as possible, for league games, the priority will be to try and win. Although we will take a squad of players to league matches, there could be cases where substitutes do not get on, if this is what is necessary to secure a win.

5. Team Selection Team play/spirit is crucial and that will only come from boys playing and training together. Attendance and teamwork will, therefore, have an influence on team selection.

6. Training Depending on how boys cope with school rugby in the first part of the season, we may shorten some of the training sessions. However, that will be by exception. The general rule is that training sessions continue to start at 10am. Coaches will be at the pitch by 9.45 to start a touch game at 9.50 with a view to training starting properly at 10am.

7. Dress code for matches For both home and away fixtures boys should arrive dressed in club polo shirts, change at the ground and then change back after the match. Most clubs offer food for boys after the match. Please stay for this.

8. Tour As many of you know, we are running a tour to Paris in the Autumn half term. We will leave in the morning on Thursday 29 October and return on Sunday 1 November.

If your son has not signed up and would like to go please speak to me asap in the next couple of days.

9. Communication If ever you have any queries or concerns please speak to us or any of the other coaches. Our contact details are below:

Alec: [email protected] and 07976 225 715 Adam: [email protected] and 07595 069 015 Dave: [email protected] and 07818 452 216

In terms of communication from us to you, all communications to the whole squad will be via the website.

We have also established a facebook group “Wimbledon RFC u16s”. All boys should join and parents are welcome to join.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the club on Sunday 6 September.

Kind regards

Alec Brown Adam Roberts Dave Wilkinson
