Programme Outline Please come and learn about colours. Please meet Michael and Bubble again Michael and Bubble are making a snowman. Snowman is white. Look! Snowman has got eyebrows, eyes, a nose and a mouth. Look at the colours. His eyebrows are orange. His eyes are purple. His nose is red. His mouth is green. Snowman is singing a song. Please sing with Snowman and learn about his colours. Now, it’s Story Time. Santa Claus is coming. Look at his eyebrows, they are white. His beard? Yes, it’s a big white beard. His nose? It’s a big red nose. What colour is his hat? His coat? Red. Yes. And his boots? Are they brown? Are they red? Now, let’s play a game and colour Santa Claus together.

Suggested Pre-viewing Activities 1. Introduce or revise these colours with the children – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black and white. 2. If possible, show the children different kinds of fruit and look at their different colours. 3. Draw a picture or prepare a cut-out of a snowman. Introduce “Snowman”. 4. Tell the children to look at Snowman’s face. Draw Snowman’s eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth together with the children. 5. Choose colours for Snowman’s eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth and colour them. 6. Ask the children to point to their eyebrows and say, “My eyebrows.” Point to their eyes and say, “My eyes.”, so on and so forth. 7. Show the children something about Christmas. For example, a Christmas tree or Christmas decorations. Say “Merry Christmas!” together. 8. Show them a picture or a cut-out of Santa Claus. Say “Ho! Ho! Ho!” together. 9. Look at Santa Claus and ask them “What is Santa Claus wearing?” - A hat, a big nose, a big beard, a coat and big boots - What colours are they? 10. Watch the programme.

Make a Mask, Play a Game (1) Draw a face to be used as a mask. For example, it has yellow eyes, a big green nose, and a red mouth. Show the mask to the children. Point at the eyes, the nose and then the mouth. Say “Yellow”, “Green”, “Red”. (Or “Yellow eyes”, “A big green nose”, “A red mouth”. Or “I have yellow eyes, a big green nose and a red mouth.”) (2) Tell the children to draw their own masks. Write their names on the back of the masks. (3) Play a game. Wear the mask and then point at the eyes, the nose and then the mouth. Each child tells the colours and say as in the example in (1).

B. Worksheets Let’s help the children associate a word and a colour and recognize the shape of the words. Worksheet 1 Draw and Colour Snowman (1) First ask the children to draw Snowman’s eyebrows and nose in the right places. (2) Colour the eyebrows, the eyes, the nose and the mouth according to the instructions.

Worksheet 2 Read and Colour (1) First the children read the sentences.

(2) Then choose √ a colour in each sentence. Colour Santa Claus. (3) Next ask the children to tell the description of their own Santa Claus. For example: a red hat, a yellow coat, etc. (4) Prepare a cut-out or a picture of Santa Claus. Also prepare different coloured cut-outs. For example, a green hat, a red hat, a purple coat, a yellow coat … etc. Each time a child reads out his/her description, choose and put on the right cut-outs on the picture of Santa Claus.
