At the Williston Northampton School

Summer Photography Workshop at the Williston Northampton School July 13- 24, 2015 A Journey in Photography for Teens, Ages 13-19

1 Through a series of focused activities, students will engage in the fundamentals of photography including the important technical aspects of aperture and shutter speed setting, composing an image, framing, perspective, balance, in color and black & white. Students will explore traditional and non-traditional photographic processes. We will also encourage students to look at and engage more critically with their world in order to capture interesting photographic images, while fostering their creativity and expression. We will be creating our work in state-of-the art facilities on the Williston Northampton School campus and we welcome all levels and interests.

This workshop will focus on working with images in traditional and non-traditional ways including: · fundamentals of both film and digital cameras · traditional black & white film processing and print enlarging · use of computers and Photoshop software · digital editing, manipulation, and printing · pinhole and/or Holga photography · alternative processes · working with light, both daylight and studio lights

Tuition: $975 for the two-week program. A non-refundable $50 deposit per student is required with registration enrollment forms to guarantee a place in the Workshop.

Tuition includes: Lunch will be provided in the Birch Dining Commons at Williston. Lab supplies: chemicals for processing and darkroom enlargements, b & w film, b & w enlarging papers, Ink jet printer inks, digital printing paper, individual notebooks for organization and storage of negatives and prints.

Students will need to provide their own cameras, one film and one digital. Cameras of the point and shoot variety are acceptable, however SLR cameras would be preferable, especially for the traditional film camera.
