The patriots lost Vince Wilfork to an injury during the start of this season they are in. Sopoaga spent his first eight years with the 49ers. Sopoaga had a 3 year deal with the eagles during off season. Sopoaga did what the eagles wanted him to do and be a role player. The eagles were switching a 3-4 defense and didn't have a real nose tackle on the roster at the time. The rest of Sopoaga contract a is picked up by New England. The Patriots are putting in a 1 million guarantee due in 2014. Isaac Sopoaga was playing for San Francisco. The Eagles announced the deal say the aquired a fifth round pick and an exchange for isaac. The patriots will owe Sopoaga a $1 million dollar salary. His scheduled base salaries rise to $3.75 million in 2014 ( $1 million of it guaranteed) Sopoaga played college football in Hawaii. In 133 games so far isaac has 227 combine tackles and 7.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. Sopoaga needs to leapfrog Tommy Kelley and Joe Vellano right on the depth chart, playing nose tackle on early downs.Isaac sopoaga will not fill up Vince Wilforks shoes but he gives them a true nose tackle. The eagles were switching to a 3-4 defense at the time and didn't really have a nose tackle on the roster at the time. While michael Vick is still injured that led a open spot for Isaac Sopoaga to play in his position Sopoaga was drafted last by the san francisco 49ers in 2004! Sopoaga began his collegiate career in the college of the canyons. As a frashman he was suspended once for hitting another player on the other team. Isaac played rugby league in somana. In his sophomore season 2000 he was recored 31 sacks. Sopoaga was inducted into college Canyons athletic hall of fame! Sopoaga is coming of a $20 million contract with the 49ers and switching to a $12 million dollar contract with the Eagles. Sopoaga played about one third of the teams offensive starter as a starter. On monday the 49ers signed third- string nose tackle, Ian Williams to a two year extension through the 2015 season, The 49ers have a visit schedule with Kansas City Chiefs free agent defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey on Wednesday. When Isaac Sopoaga was just a few hours from arriving in new england he called it a dream come true. In the first season of a three-year, $11 million deal, Sopoaga was struggling for the Eagles, but provides much needed heft up front for the Patriots. He is tasked with defending up the Patriots' run defense in the absence of NT Vince Wilfork. Sopoaga's is a sign DT Tommy Kelly (knee) The Patriots got sopoaga in a trade last month from philadelphia, which had signed him as a free agent in the off season. Sopoaga has been working his hardest on lifting weights after football practice with the eagles he is trying his hardest to be the best football player while he is lifting weights like he is back on the island in poga poga..

A lot of great work has been put in over the last few months by our players, coaches and staff, and we are all looking forward to getting the 2015 season started in late July. It is a very exciting time for everyone in our organization and we hope it is for our alumni as well. Every day we walk into the practice facility at 4949 Marie P. DeBartolo Way, we are reminded of the great tra- dition of this franchise and the people, such as our alumni, who have helped to write its proud history. It was important to this organization to reinforce our feelings of gratitude and appreciation for your contri- butions and continued support before the season gets underway. The dedication you have shown to this fran- chise and the sacrifices you and your families have made are certainly recognized and will never be forgotten. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Charles Haley on his upcoming induction into the Pro Foot- ball Hall of Fame and the Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. 49ers Hall of Fame.
