The LeFrak Center at Lakeside Opens Summer Water Play Area for Children

On Monday, May 26 the Samuel J. and Ethel LeFrak Center will transform its uncovered rink into the Park’s largest water play area for children 12 and under. Free to the public, the water feature includes 41 jets that form clear streams of water that dance across the surface, so children can play while keeping cool on a hot summer day.

“Ensuring the LeFrak Center at Lakeside could be used year round was an important goal when we were designing it,” said James Snow, Acting President of the Prospect Park Alliance. “With the opening of the water play feature we are excited to add another great activity made especially for kids.”

The free water play area will be open daily from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. through Labor Day. Adults who are over the age of 18 must be accompanied by a child 12 and under.

Meanwhile at the 16,000-square-foot, covered roller-skating rink, the LeFrak Center is offering a range of clinics for guests looking to take their first steps on the rink or they want to their skills to the next level. The LeFrak Center offers weekday evening and weekend youth and adult learn- to-skate programs, roller derby clinics, and advanced programs and gameplay for roller hockey enthusiasts.

“Upsilon Ventures is thrilled to open this special water play area in time for the holiday and we will introduce a range of new programs, events and amenities for children, adults, families, groups, or corporate partners including boating and biking later this summer,” said Itai Shoffman, Founder and Principle, Upsilon Ventures, LLC.

Entry to LeFrak Center is free and open to the public, with an admission fee associated with skating and skating-related services. Summer Hours for public roller skating are as follows: Wednesday – Thursday between 12:00pm – 6:00pm, Fridays from 2:00pm – 8:00pm, Saturdays from 10:00am – 10:00pm and Sundays from 10:00am – 6:30pm. Information and pricing for classes at LeFrak Center’s Skate School, private rink rentals, group discounts, seasonal roller skating season passes, birthday and special occasion parties, corporate events, and Bluestone Café dining options can be found at LakesideBrooklyn.com.
