Rurally located approximately five-miles south east of , Chadwick End is a small, friendly community set in the heart of farming country. The Shambles sits at the end of the village bordered by farm land on two sides with the Heart of Way passing by the side of the house and across open countryside, making this a bona fide country idyll. The cottage, dating mid 18th to early 19th century, originally formed part of a smallholding and has been substantially extended and modernised over the years to provide a deceptively spacious home with an abundance of authentic character. The current owners have brought their family up here over the past 22 years;

‘the place has a fantastic feeling of home and is loved by the family and everyone who visits. The rural location insures a peaceful life yet towns and cities, motorway and rail links and Birmingham Airport are all close to hand.’

‘It’s a good-sized house with plenty of space for the family to spread out and not get in each other’s way, it also lends itself perfectly to entertaining guests. It has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Over the years, the owners have turned the garden into a beautiful and enjoyable haven.’

‘Our favourite room is without doubt the dining room; a cosy space ideal for hosting family occasions. The new family room, which is open, light and airy incorporates a large and highly functional kitchen with ample space for the family to hang out and chat whilst meals are being cooked.’

‘The garden is a good size and very manageable with a lawned area and cottage garden – the decked area which wraps around the family room is a recent addition which enables us to sit out on a Summer evening with a glass of wine whilst keeping an eye on things in the kitchen. There are a wealth of country walks right on the doorstep – ideal if you have dogs.’

‘The age and style of the property make it a magical place when dressed up for Christmas, Easter and Halloween and we’ve hosted many happy gatherings over the years.’

‘It’s time to downsize now the family have flown the nest and we will leave with heavy hearts as this has been such a wonderful home – it’s time for another family to take ownership and make happy memories of their own.’*

To the top of the garden Oak gates open onto the generous driveway where there is also a useful summer house, and to the side of the cottage, accessed from the country lane, is the double garage. There is also a useful storage shed, BBQ area, and beautifully landscaped terraces that offer various seating and entertaining space. There is a further pathway leading around to the front of the cottage where steps and a gate lead up to the road.

The pretty village of Chadwick End is located 6 miles south of Solihull town centre and lies astride this trunk road between Birmingham and Warwick, some 3 miles from Knowle. The name “Chadwick” is an old English word meaning ‘farm near a spring’ and although it’s not a traditional village with a green, it has a fabulous community spirit that has grown over the years through a strong farming heritage. Like any thriving English village, Chadwick End has an excellent Community Hall, it’s own football club and links to the local cricket clubs at Rowington and Knowle & Dorridge.

One of the most attractive features of Chadwick End is Priest Park Wood, which is scheduled as ‘Ancient Woodland’, meaning that it existed before 1600. Another fine feature of the village is Chadwick Manor, located approximately 1 mile due north of Chadwick End, and built in 1875 for Gilbert Wilkes and his family. The Wilkes family fortune came from brass and copper mills at Bordesley, Birmingham. During the 1930s the Manor became a country house hotel and the estate a racing-stud both owned by the Stewart MacKay family. Upon the death in 1980 of champion racehorse owner and breeder Captain Norman “Norrie” Stewart MacKay (1895-1980), the estate was sold and the Manor converted to luxury apartments which have remained much sought after ever since.

As the cornerstone of most villages, the pub tends to be the meeting place for locals and visitors alike, and Chadwick End can certainly boast one of the best pubs in Warwickshire. With its unique ambience and visual appeal, The Orange Tree is the perfect spot to enjoy evenings out, lovely lunches, cosy winters and lazy summer days, all with a superb choice of dining and a great atmosphere within their own unique stunning decor, featuring open kitchens, stone fired ovens and log burning fires and beautifully landscaped gardens for alfresco dining.

whether you are talking one of the many stunning country walks in this area or enjoying a lazy summer day at the Orange Tree, Chadwick End offers the perfect location for every generation to enjoy this wonderful village offering peace and tranquility, yet the convenience of its proximity to Solihull, Knowle and Dorridge.
