 English for Your Health An estimated 36% of Adult New Yorkers are at the lowest literacy level and about one half is functionally illiterate. The Peninsula Adult Learning Center (Peninsula ALC) is part of the Queens Borough Public Library’s Adult Learner Program. The Center provides resources to adult learners in various capacities. PROGRAM GOALS The Peninsula Adult Learning Center (Peninsula ALC) is committed to serving the immigrant population in Queens to help adult learners achieve literacy and self- sufficiency. In line with its commitment to better serve all the populations in Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Weekend Classes Available… Queens, the Queens Public Library opened Adult Learning Centers in areas where Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Weekend Classes Available… communities are most underserved: The Rockaways as well as Jamaica, Elmhurst, Taught by Professional and Friendly Teachers!
