It contends that the contemporary US musician Hayley Kiyoko can be seen as a queer music video auteur who has transformed what the ‘gaze’ can mean in mainstream pop music through directing her own videos. The paper asserts that through her performance within and, arguably even more significantly, via her direction of videos, Kiyoko has produced a new and complex portrayal of how female sexual desire is represented even when, on the surface, it may not necessarily appear to disrupt normativity. Reaction videos made by Kiyoko’s fans have also queered the gaze whereby the ‘watcher’ becomes the ‘watched’. The paper concludes that online spaces and digital technologies are radically reshaping understandings of queer sexuality in music videos.

  • A Culture of Recording: Christopher Raeburn and the Decca Record Company
A Culture of Recording: Christopher Raeburn and the Decca Record Company Sally Elizabeth Drew A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy The University of Sheffield Faculty of Arts and Humanities Department of Music This work was supported by the Arts & Humanities Research Council September 2018 1 2 Abstract This thesis examines the working culture of the Decca Record Company, and how group interaction and individual agency have made an impact on the production of music recordings. Founded in London in 1929, Decca built a global reputation as a pioneer of sound recording with access to the world’s leading musicians. With its roots in manufacturing and experimental wartime engineering, the company developed a peerless classical music catalogue that showcased technological innovation alongside artistic accomplishment. This investigation focuses specifically on the contribution of the recording producer at Decca in creating this legacy, as can be illustrated by the career of Christopher Raeburn, the company’s most prolific producer and specialist in opera and vocal repertoire. It is the first study to examine Raeburn’s archive, and is supported with unpublished memoirs, private papers and recorded interviews with colleagues, collaborators and artists. Using these sources, the thesis considers the history and functions of the staff producer within Decca’s wider operational structure in parallel with the personal aspirations of the individual in exerting control, choice and authority on the process and product of recording. Having been recruited to Decca by John Culshaw in 1957, Raeburn’s fifty-year career spanned seminal moments of the company’s artistic and commercial lifecycle: from assisting in exploiting the dramatic potential of stereo technology in Culshaw’s Ring during the 1960s to his serving as audio producer for the 1990 The Three Tenors Concert international phenomenon.

  • RIAA'') Is Pleased to Provide
Before the UNITED STATES COPYRIGHT OFFICE Washington, D.C. In the Matter of: Docket No. 2014-03 Music Licensing Study: Notice and Request for Public Comment COMMENTS OF THE RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, INC. The Recording Industry Association of America, Inc. ("RIAA'') is pleased to provide these Comments in response to the Copyright Office's Notice oflnquiry ("NOI") in the above- captioned proceeding. See Music Licensing Study: Notice and Request for Public Comment, 79 Fed. Reg. 14,739 (Mar. 17, 2014). RIAA is the trade association that represents the music companies that create, manufacture and/or distribute approximately 85% of all legitimate recorded music produced and sold in the United States. The issues raised in the NOi are critically important to RIAA's members. The musical works they license to include in their releases are an essential part of those releases, and they are major licensees of musical works. They are also copyright owners or distributors of audio-only and audiovisual sound recording releases accounting for the vast majority of music usage. Sound recordings and the musical works incorporated therein are subject to disparate licensing systems, including three completely separate systems just for musical works (i.e., for mechanical, performance and synchronization rights). Unfortunately, while the systems for sound recordings are working reasonably well in many respects, there is an emerging consensus that the systems for licensing musical works are not. Accordingly, the question is not whether change would be desirable, but whether it will be possible to achieve consensus concerning what changes should be made to improve musical work licensing.

24 Hours of Spa Race Press Information Linkin Park and Mercedes-AMG rock the track 30 July 2016 Affalterbach/Spa-Francorchamps. Première at the 24 Hours of Spa Race: For the first time, a Mercedes-AMG GT3 styled by world renown rock band Linkin Park sees action on the racetrack. Three of the band members, Chester Bennington, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn are big car and AMG fans, and did not want to miss the opportunity to personally present the vehicle designed specifically for the motorsport classic in Spa to the crowd of racing enthusiasts. They even had the privilege of waving the start flag in Spa and frenetically cheered on the Mercedes-AMG driven by Yelmer Buurman (NED), Maro Engel (GER) and Bernd Schneider (GER) from the garage of the BLACK FALCON AMG Team. The Linkin Park GT3 is the second joint project as part of the "Two Stages – One Passion" cooperation between Mercedes-AMG and Linkin Park. The band had already contributed their song "Papercut" to the world première of the new Mercedes-AMG GT R in late June, providing the fitting sound for the international campaign. The design of the Linkin Park GT3 with race number #00 was penned by DJ Joe Hahn, who is also a visual artist and director of many of the band’s iconic videos. The car sports a striking red-black colour scheme on a silver base, with the Linkin Park logo dominantly displayed on the long bonnet, showing the musicians' enthusiasm for motorsport. The racing suits of the Linkin Park GT3 drivers match the design of the car.

For some of the faster solos I warm up, but not in an overtly methodical way. Check out our Nickelback store for Nickelback shirts, tour merchandise, hoodies, accesories and more. LP have certainly raised my interest level immensely to try out this newest album. Mike states that there are dozens of clips that are usually from their phones, sometimes from videos that are shot that provide these moments. This will begin to make things right. The mainstreaming of metalcore and hardcore also warrants mentioning: Bring Me the Horizon and A Day to Remember gradually attained stardom thanks to their knack for mixing furious breakdowns with sparkling pop productions.
