  • Marvel Magic Quite the Strange World, This One. You're Probably Familiar
Marvel Magic Quite the strange world, this one. You’re probably familiar with it -- maybe you’ve even been here before. But there’s more to it than what you’ve seen in the past. Underneath the spandex and the heroics on the surface rests an even stranger world, one of magic and mysticism, gods and demons. The myths and legends of the past are largely true, from the court of king Arthur to the gods of Mount Olympus, strange and powerful beings have walked this world and the myriad of others connected to it. Even in the modern day, when much of the magic in the world has been supplanted by science and the heroes and monsters of old have been replaced by newer breeds, the myths of the past have far from vanished. Many have blended together: Thor, the Nordic god of Thunder, and Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth’s dimension, have both served on the Avengers, earth’s mightiest heroes. Even science and magic are not completely incompatible and some brilliant few have managed to mate them into something greater than the sum of its parts. Mostly this is a world of stories, many and varied. You are of course no stranger to forging stories and whatever tale you weave in this world is sure to be an interesting one. Here’s 1000 CP to decide the beginning of your story below. Choose wisely, because you’ll be spending the next decade here. Location Where will your story start? You can choose to begin anywhere on earth that you could reasonably be.

Page 2 of 15 TABLE SPECIFICS Introduction This is one of the four Tables which were included in the Marvel Pinball Vengeance & Virtue Pack, this is available for PFX2 on Xbox 360 for a mere 800MS PTS. This Table is for me one of the Best, if not the Best that Zen Studios have produced. It truly blends the Comic Book nature of the character of Moon Knight and his Universe. One of the most unique aspects of the Table is that it has cinematic occurrences; these can of course be skipped at any time. This adds to the whole immersion of the Characters World. The Layout of the Table is very unique and for me can’t be compared with any Table that has come before it, but I would say it’s perhaps a Blade II Table so to speak. Overall the Team once again have done such an amazing job they really captured the Character of Moon Knight brilliantly and incorporated his Universe in the Table seamlessly. The voice acting is top notch calibre and the Artwork etc.

  • “Why So Serious?” Comics, Film and Politics, Or the Comic Book Film As the Answer to the Question of Identity and Narrative in a Post-9/11 World
ABSTRACT “WHY SO SERIOUS?” COMICS, FILM AND POLITICS, OR THE COMIC BOOK FILM AS THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF IDENTITY AND NARRATIVE IN A POST-9/11 WORLD by Kyle Andrew Moody This thesis analyzes a trend in a subgenre of motion pictures that are designed to not only entertain, but also provide a message for the modern world after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The analysis provides a critical look at three different films as artifacts of post-9/11 culture, showing how the integration of certain elements made them allegorical works regarding the status of the United States in the aftermath of the attacks. Jean Baudrillard‟s postmodern theory of simulation and simulacra was utilized to provide a context for the films that tap into themes reflecting post-9/11 reality. The results were analyzed by critically examining the source material, with a cultural criticism emerging regarding the progression of this subgenre of motion pictures as meaningful work. “WHY SO SERIOUS?” COMICS, FILM AND POLITICS, OR THE COMIC BOOK FILM AS THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF IDENTITY AND NARRATIVE IN A POST-9/11 WORLD A Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of Miami University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts Department of Communications Mass Communications Area by Kyle Andrew Moody Miami University Oxford, Ohio 2009 Advisor ___________________ Dr. Bruce Drushel Reader ___________________ Dr. Ronald Scott Reader ___________________ Dr. David Sholle TABLE OF CONTENTS ACKNOWLEDGMENTS .......................................................................................................................... Said, Palestine For Mom and Dad, who taught me to be my own hero ii Acknowledgements There are so many people without whom this project would never have been possible. First and foremost, my parents, Paul and MaryAnn Frank, who never blinked when I told them I wanted to move half way across the country to read comic books for a living. Their unending support has taken many forms, from late-night pep talks and airport pick-ups to rides to Comic-Con at 3 am and listening to a comics nerd blather on for hours about why Man of Steel was so terrible. I could never hope to repay the patience, love, and trust they have given me throughout the years, but hopefully fewer midnight conversations about my dissertation will be a good start. Amanda Lotz has shown unwavering interest and support for me and for my work since before we were formally advisor and advisee, and her insight, feedback, and attention to detail kept me invested in my own work, even in times when my resolve to continue writing was flagging.
