Michael Louria had the game winner in that one. UMass Lowell had gone seven overtimes (0-6-1) without a win. DOWN BUT NOT OUT: UMass Lowell’s Friday night win against Northeastern also marked the first time this season the River Hawks have won a game in which they trailed in the third period. They last time they won in come-from-behind fashion in the third period was on December 6, 2014 when they trailed Maine 2-1 in the final period. Tyler Mueller scored at 12:27 of the period to tie it and Michael Louria got the game winner at the 3:57 mark of overtime. IN THE CLUTCH: Junior defenseman Dylan Zink, who had the overtime game winner 24-hours ago, has become Mr. Clutch over the last two seasons. Zink leads the River Hawks in clutch goals, goals that either tied the score or gave UMass Lowell the lead, with four this season. The defenseman topped the “clutch” goal list during the 2014-15 season with seven. Six of his ten goals put the River Hawks in the lead, one tied the game. Eleven of his 15 career goals have been defined as “clutch.” TEN WNS BEFORE THE BREAK: Friday night’s win was UMass Lowell’s tenth win of the season. It is only the seventh time in 33 years that the River Hawks have had ten wins before the winter break, but it is the third consecutive year in which they have reached that milestone. In both the 1986-87 and 2001-02 seasons UMass Lowell had 12 wins at the break marking the best first halves in school history. The River Hawks are one of six teams with ten or more wins (Boston College, Quinnipiac, Neb-Omaha, North Dakota, St. Cloud.) UML is also one of eight teams with one or fewer losses. QUICK START: UMass Lowell’s 10-1-3 record is the team’s best start through 14 games since moving to Division I for the 1983-84 season. FILLING THE SEATS: UMass Lowell is off to a strong start at the gate drawing more than 38,000 fans to the team’sHOCKEY first seven home games. They lead Hockey East in attendance averaging 5,467 per game, one of two schools drawing more than five-thousand per game. A year ago the River Hawks drew more than 100,000 fans for the first time in the program’s history. The twenty games played at the Tsongas Center attracted 102,390 people, an average of 5,120 per game. The River Hawks ranked second in Hockey East in home attendance behind Notre Dame who drew 103,008 in 23 home games.

WHEN THE TSONGAS CENTER IS SOLD OUT: Last Friday night’s crowd of 6,572 was the first sell out for a game against Maine and the 24th sell-out and the 12th largest crowd ever at the Tsongas Center. Capacity was listed as 6,496 when the building opened but the seating capacity has been reduced over time, as luxury suites and the pavilion was added, to the current 6,003.
