Negrobov, Peter Manko, Bella Japoshvili, Nataly Snegovaya & Jozef Oboňa Records of the long-legged flies (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) from Azerbaijan and Georgia. – Acta Mus. Siles. Sci. Natur. 69: 67-72, 2020. Abstract: Records of 16 species of the family Dolichopodidae from Azerbaijan and Georgia are given. Four species Campsicnemus armeniacus Negrobov, Manko, Hrivniak & Obona, 2017, Chrysotus pennatus Lichtwardt, 1902, Medetera kowarzi Negrobov, 1974, Rhaphium brevicorne Curtis, 1835 represent new records for Azerbaijan and increase species richness to 90 taxa. The completed checklist of long-legged flies of Georgia is presented. With five new country records, namely: Campsicnemus umbripennis Loew, 1856, Medetera murina Becker, 1917, Medetera truncorum Meigen, 1824, Sybistroma crinipes Stæger, 1842, Sympycnus pulicarius (Fallén, 1823), the checklist covers 71 taxa now. Key words: Diptera, Dolichopodidae, first records, checklist, Azerbaijan Introduction The investigation of the long-legged flies of Azerbaijan and Georgia is still far from finished. So far, 86 species are known from Azerbaijan (see: Negrobov 1971, Negrobov & Shamshev 1984, Grichanov 2004, Negrobov & Rodionova 2004, Negrobov et al. 2007, Grichanov & Tomkovich 2009, Maslova et al. 2011, Negrobov & Maslova 2011, Negrobov et al. 2017a). From Georgia, 65 species are known according to the authors knowledge (see: Negrobov et al. 1988, Chalaya & Negrobov 1989, Negrobov & Onishchenko 1991, Grichanov 2007, Maslova et al. 2008, 2012). Material and methods Dipterans were collected by sweep netting from the vegetation growing along the watercourses and lakes by the members of V4 & Eastern Partnership team (Visegrad Group + Georgia and Azerbaijan - abbreviated as V4 & EP leg.) in the period between September 14 and September 24, 2018. The captured specimens were preserved in 75% ethanol directly in the field. The material is deposited in the collection of the first author Oleg P. Negrobov (Voronezh University and Laboratory of Insect Systematics of Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences) who also identified these species. Information on the species distribution is given only for new country records and follow Grichanov (2007). This species is tiny, body length 1.3 mm, has the wing reduced to a narrow strap, and is the first stenopterous dolichopodid described from the New World. Based on the structure of the head, thorax, and male postabdomen, and the setation, Papallacta belongs in the Medeterinae, even though males have large obovate aristal flags, unusual in this subfamily. Twenty-two species, collected from 13 localities, are new to the Balkan Mountains and seven of them (Dolichopus longicornis, Hercostomus chetifer, Medetera pallipes, M. muralis, Neurigona quadrifasciata, N. pallida and Sciapus costea) are new to the fauna of Bulgaria. Medetera pallipes and Sciapus costea are also new to the Balkan Peninsula. Thus, the total number of known species of the family Dolichopodidae for Bulgaria increases to 204. The dolichopodid fauna of Croatia is poorly investigated and majority of records are from the second half of the 19th and in the first half of the 20th century.

Bandeirantes 3900, 14040–901, Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brasil. E-mail: [email protected], [email protected] 3Corresponding author Abstract Five New World species of Chrysotus Meigen are redescribed, four of them herein transferred from Diaphorus Meigen: C. angustifrons (Robinson), comb.nov., C. maculatus (Parent), comb.nov. (= D. maculipennis Robinson), C. robustus (Robinson), comb.nov., C. spectabilis (Loew) and C. wirthi (Robinson), comb.nov. The female of C. maculatus is described for the first time. Terminalia of both males and females are illustrated. The previous suggestion that C. angustifrons, C. robustus, C. wirthi, and C. spectabilis and the Neotropical genus Lyroneurus Loew are closely related based on wing venation similarities is analyzed and rejected. Key words: Diaphorus, Chrysotus, Lyroneurus, Dolichopodidae, Diaphorinae, new combination Introduction The Diaphorinae form a diverse and complex subfamily of Dolichopodidae, with worldwide distribution and about 830 described species (219 Neotropical), placed in 15 genera (Yang et al. 2006). The two major genera of the subfamily, Chrysotus Meigen (285 spp., 90 Neotropical) and Diaphorus Meigen (265 spp., 70 Neotropical), encompass more than 60% of the diaphorine diversity. Nevertheless, they are both poorly defined in relation to each other and also in relation to some other diaphorine genera, e.g., Asyndetus Loew, Cryptophleps Lichtwardt, Ostenia Hutton, Melanostolus Kowarz, and Lyroneurus Loew (Bickel 1996, 2005).

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Two new species of the long-legged fly genus Hurleyella Runyon & Robinson, 2010 are described and illustrated: Hur- leyella belizensis sp. nov. from Belize and Hurleyella salina sp. nov. from alkali areas of the Northern Rockies of the USA (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming). The discovery of these new species greatly extends the known distribution of Hurleyella northward in the Nearctic and southward into the Neotropics. Notes, photos of habitats, a distribution map, and a key to the four known species of Hurleyella are provided. Key words: Rocky Mountains, Belize, long-legged flies, Dolichopodidae, Medeterinae, micro-dolichopodids, Hurleyel- la, Microchrysotus, Micromedetera, Neotropics, Nearctic Introduction Hurleyella Runyon & Robinson, 2010 was established for two Nearctic species, H. brooksi Runyon & Robinson from Texas and H. cumberlandensis Runyon & Robinson from Virginia. The genus contains miniscule gray to brown flies that have a body length of around 1 mm (Figs 1, 2) and adults occur in sunny, relatively dry habitats. Hurleyella belongs to the so-called ‘micro-dolichopodids’, a collection of minute-sized, probably unrelated genera that make up a speciose component of the dolichopodid fauna in the New World (Robinson 1969, 1975; Bickel 2009; Borkent et al.

Keywords: Checklist, Oriental, Taxonomy, Biodiversity, Inventory, India diptera. I. Introduction The family Dolichopodidae, commonly known as Long legged flies, are one of the most diverse families of Diptera (Grichanov,1999). Adult dolichopodids vary in size from about 1-9 mm in length and can be recognized by their elongate legs, reduced wing venation, aristate antennae, and relatively slender build. Most species are metallic greenish-blue to greenish-bronze, while some others are non-metallic yellowish (e.g., some species of Achalcus Loew, Argyrochlamys Lamb, Neurigona Rondani, Xanthochlorus Loew and Xanthina Aldrich), or brown to blackish (e.g., several species of Micromorphus Mik and Medetera Fischer von Waldheim). Dolichopodids are widespread and are found in all zoogeographic regions (Robinson,1970; Dyte, 1975; Dyte and Smith ,1980; Bickel and Dyte, 1989; Negrobov, 1991; Pollet et al., 2004). In general, adults and larvae prefer moist environments including stream and lake margins, humid forests, saltmarshes, seashores, and freshwater seepages, where they often occur in large numbers.
