The band is comprised of four of the most talented and promising acoustic roots musicians in the country. Patrick McAvinue, one of the most in-demand and highly respected bluegrass fiddlers in the country, takes charge with his virtuosic, powerful and musical approach to the fiddle. Clawhammer banjo wizard Brad Kolodner adds his playful, driving, melodic and groovy Old-Time touch. Sean McComiskey, an incredibly talented Irish button accordion player, soars through the tunes and fills the gaps with his soulful playing. The versatile bassist Alex Lacquement drives the train, locking everything together with his commanding and tasteful choices. Years later he found himself chasing every opportunity to play some happy thumping lines with bluegrass and old-time string bands. As the son of legendary button accordion player Billy McComiskey, Sean has been surrounded by Irish Traditional music his entire life and has developed a deep appreciation for the rich tradition of which he is a part. I'm talking falling-off-the- edge-of-my-seat excited. Sure, quite often I discover and enjoy good music by new groups that have great timing, rhythm and groove, clever arrangements, tight harmony, tasty notes. But for me to experience music euphoria, it takes something that transcends all of the above. I'm not always sure of what it is, but I recognize "it" very quickly when it happens. When I go to a show and from the first note from the band everyone in the audience is smiling, can't sit still, is swaying to the music, dancing in their seats, or even standing up to dance because they can't help it, then I know the band has "it." I had seen and heard Brad, Patrick, Sean, and Alex individually in other music entities over the years and in each situation, they captured my attention as amazing musicians to keep watching for. Each one of them is a head-turning musician on his own. So when I heard they had formed a new group, Charm City Junction, I just knew that this could very well be one of those rare aligning-of-the-stars moments. I didn't hesitate and went to see them in concert. Sure enough, BAM! From the first note to the last, the audience was captured with powerful, driving, pulsing, can't-keep-still rhythm. Alex, Sean, Patrick, and Brad couldn't help but let it show that they were having as much fun as the audience. They were smiling and moving as well. Everything about that night was spectacular, the energy, the pacing of the set, the variety of material. On the way home, I told my friend who had joined me, "This is the band I'd like to be in!" There is now a major buzz about these guys. And this CD will show you why. It has the magic. It has "IT"! My preliminary rough-mix copy is in constant rotation. I've even played along with every cut over and over. I just can't get enough of Charm City Junction!     Carl Jackson- Musical Dream Maker By Lee Kotick Carl Jackson is a musical architect, bridge builder, and dreamer. He’s a one of a kind man; a humble networker who enriches others’ lives. Jackson’s mantra is, “With each dream that becomes a reality, a new dream lies ahead.” Many of his dreams have come true. He’s not just a gifted musical producer, but a most influential guy who perhaps is singularly responsible for the creation of one of the major bridges between bluegrass and country from the 1960s to the present. His feet are firmly planted in both genres. Jackson’s humility would cause him to disagree with such homage. Make no mistake, bluegrass and country go together other like ham and eggs. Jackson’s body of work in bluegrass and country is unrivaled for its time period. Just as Glen Campbell and Jim and Jesse took a young banjo playing Jackson under their wings, he in turn takes on talented young artists, nurtures them and teaches them to fly on their own. As a good song must have a great title, so must dreams be built on bridges providing artists connections between episodes of their dreams. While he’s fulfilled many of his own dreams, Jackson is called to make others’ dreams come true. Our country’s greatest artists want to be affiliated with Jackson’s projects, and to a person, they clearly love and admire him. This is a man who has reached the epitome of musical production in our genres. The Man Jackson was born in 1953 in a small clinic above the Strand Theatre in Louisville, MS.

    Hollywood VFD to host annual bluegrass festival fundraiser Posted by Alan Van Wormer On 04/15/2018 HOLLYWOOD, Md. - The Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad will present its annual Bluegrass Festival on Saturday May 12, 2018 at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 11 am and the show starts at Noon. Weather permitting, the event will be held outside. All proceeds from the day’s event will go toward the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad Building Fund. “Honoring tradition through innovation”, that’s Audie Blaylocks (pictured right) motto. His mellow, wailing tenor and lightning-fast guitar picking have made him one of the names to watch in the world of traditional bluegrass. There’s something in a name; and Redline, the name of Audie Blaylock’s hot-shot band, could not be more fitting. Blaylock's vision for his sound involves an occasional glance in the rear view mirror, but with a heavy foot planted firmly on the accelerator, his music has a way of driving hard into the future. Audie Blaylock’s musical journey is a familiar one in bluegrass music, having grown up in an Appalachian musical family, his musical education started early and led to him sharing the stage with some of bluegrass’ finest and most respected artists, including first generation bluegrass character and giant, Jimmy Martin, as well as Red Allen, Harley Allen, Lynn Morris, Michael Cleveland, and Rhonda Vincent. Yet a true artist is never content in the passenger’s seat, and this is where Blaylock’s path diverges from the familiar, well-beaten path on this old mountain side.
