Billy Sample Billy Sample Billy Sample is a man of many different talents. Of course, you know him as Major League Baseball player for 9 seasons from 1978 to 1986. Billy got his career off to a great start when he singled on the first pitch he faced in the majors. Sample played for the Texas Rangers for the first seven seasons of his career before being traded to the New York Yankees for the 1985 season and then on to the Atlanta Braves for his final season in 1986. Over his career, Billy hit a very respectable .272. But baseball is just one of Billy’s talents. Sample is also a writer. He has written articles for the New York Time, the National Sports Daily, Sports Illustrated and Baseball Weekly. Additionally, Billy was a broadcaster. He worked for CBS radio, the California Angels radio broadcast, the Seattle Mariners TV broadcast and for ESPN. Is that all? Nope. Sample is also a playwright; he wrote the screenplay titled “Reunion 108”, the story of two generations of players who come together years later and begin swapping stories and comparing their experiences. Billy not only wrote the script but played the role of one of the players. The play took top honors at the Hoboken Film Festival in 2011. It was subsequently made into a movie which Billy helped cast and direct. That has to be all Sample has done, right? Not quite. He is also an author having written the book “A Year in Pinstripes … And Then Some”, a terrific book about his season with the 1985 Yankees. Ya, that’s all Billy Sample can do. Hire him to entertain your audience. Sports Celebrity Marketing S.C.M. Inc. 13332 Tenth Line, Georgetown, ON L7G4S8 Canada Phone: 647-221-8405 www.sportscelebs.com .
