1 ~'\ Dedication The Parisian Staff of Paris High School would like to dedicate the Parisian 81 -Sl to an individual in the school system who has given a lot of time, hard work, Jove, and devotion to the students. This person has inspired and helped many students decide what classes to take, what school activities to become involved in, and what scholor ships to apply for. She has Jed the students through high school by helping them make decisions pertaining to a curriculum which would help them to attain their career goals. She is a friend, mother, and colleague to every one at Paris High. Of course this per son is none other than Mrs. Elizabeth Scott, our guidance counce/or. Mrs. Scott has been in the Paris School System for 34 years and has received an AB and MA fr.:Jm UK in Elementary Education and a Rank I from UK in Guidance. We feel that Mrs. Scott de serves this dedication and honor that is long due her and with this thought, we dedicate our yearbook to Mrs. Elizabeth Scott.

Dedication/ 3 Tribute For Hard Work Along The Path

The Parisian staff would like to take this opportu nity to thank Mrs. Anna Johnson and Mr. Thomas A. Siwicki for their years of dedication and hard work here at P.H.S. Together they have over 80 years of teaching experience. They have given encouragement, inspiration, and guidance to both faculty and students. We appreci ate their endurance, patience, and sense of humor. They will be missed by all, but everyone is a richer person for having been associated with these two fine faculty members. Their Jove and dedication to the students and school will always be remembered and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.

The doors to opportunity and success are labeled "push." Initiative, self-discipline, and perseverence are forms of pushing one self to attain one's personal goals. Paris High graduates have established traditions of ex cellence and accomplishment founded on these traits. Each of you is charged with continuing to raise these standards. Con gratulations. Good luck. God Bless.

Mary King Logan Crowned /981 Homecoming Queen

October]], 1981 was a bitterly cold evening but for fifteen young ladies the cold was forgotten during the half-time excitement as Miss Mary King Logan, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Logan, was crowned the 1981 Homecommg Queen at Paris High School. The princess and queen candidates walked onto the field with their escorts as the band, under the direction of Mr. T.A. Siwicki, played the traditional, "A Pretty Girl Is Like A Melody. " The climax of the evening came as Mary King was declared the queen of 1981 and received her crown and flowers from Mayor Doug Castle and 1980 Homecoming Queen Miss Melanie King.

Get Bill Shakespeare Off The Stage

This year's Senior play, a delightful comedy by Joseph Robinette, was a huge success. It is the story of a first year English teacher's attempt to produce scenes from some of Shakespeare's plays. The result is a hilarious rebellion, the consequences of which teach all a lesson in respect and regard for others feelings. Again the cast's and Mrs. Roseberry's hard work has paid off.

Friday, May 7 proved to truly serve as a "Stairway to the Stars" as the Juniors presented a spectacular evening planned along this theme. The evening was highlighted by the music of Paradox and by the crown ing of Ruthie Shriver and Jeff Liven good as Prom Queen and King. Congratulations to the junior class for a star filled evening which was enjoyed by all.

With the help of Drum Major Tracey Kookendoffer, the band regularly attended football and basketball games. Not only did they provide entertainment, but greatly boosted school spirit. Their work began last summer with majorettes Tanya Sanders and Vicki Cavanaugh attending ma jorette camp and Tanya being selected as "Miss Camp Crescendo." Margaret Forsythe and Tracey Kookendoffer attended drum camp and the flag girls also attended camp.

Thanks, Mr. Siwicki, for 43 wonderful music filled years.

76/Parisonnaires Versatility Plus No where else in the country can so much music come from so small a group as the one at Paris High School. Under the direction of Mr. Thomas A. Siwicki, the Parisonnaires, once again presented a beautiful Christmas program for the school and com munity. The highlight of their year was the western pro duction at the Spring Concert. Good toe tapping music combined with clogging made real entertain ment that no one should have missed. Versatility plus is all that can be said about this marvelous group. The Parisonnaires end their year on a sad note with the retirement of their director, but they wish for him the best in the years to come.

Every year at graduation, a few honored seniors have the privilege of wearing gold cords on their gowns. The Beta Club's way of honoring their hard work and dedication throughout school is to buy these cords. Under the leadership of Lisa Butcher, the club had two bake sales, promoted school spirit by selling orange shakers, served as ushers for parent confer ence day and graduation, as well as holding induc tion services for the ten new members. Mr. Ron Chumbley, Superintendent of the school system was the speaker for the new Beta induction ceremony.

The club has been active throughout the community espe cially with residents of local nursing homes. They helped the Paris Women's Club with their "Visit With Santa" and "Hallow een Party"1 they donated two videotapes to P.H.S.J they spon sored a dance and a talent show to benefit the T. W.C. Scholarship Fund, and they sponsored a child from Bolivia through "World Vi sions." Another occasion for this year was attending the wedding of their sponsor, Mr. Barrese.

Teens Who Care/ 79 FBLA had a successful year. They achieved more than we believed possible. They started out the year with a new president, Denise Hutchison, who lead the club in such projects as cleaning up the Senior Courtyard, selling Ronald McDonald buttons to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Lexington, KY, and a fantastic fundraising project, Tom- Wat Showcases. They competed in the regional/eve/ of FBLA Conferences held at Northern Kentucky University. There were winners in Accounting I (Jennifer Jones) and poster event (Lucy Bell, Sherry McGlothin). These people along with two voting delegates (Vicki Cavanaugh. Beverly True) were sent to the FBLA State Conferences held in Louisville, KY. These students competed in events like that of the regiona/s. Although not placing for national/eve/, each was proud of their contribution to the success of the State Conference. They had a Christmas Party with members of the FHA. Also at Christmas time, food was given to the Food Storage Project in Paris which went to needy families. Along with selling buttons to benefit the Ronald McDonald House, money was donated to help in the building of the house. In apprecia tion of their work, the local McDonald's donated free food at one of the group's projects, the cleaning of the Senior Courtyard. Everyone joined in the fun and were awarded with the food and good feeling that accompanied such an act. They ended off their year with the election of new officers and preparation for the next year in FBLA.

The staff of the Pride accom plished much in the 1981-198) school year and had a lot of fun doing it. Many long hours were involved for everyone. Yards of typset copy was proofread and non-reproducing blue pens were a page editors best friend. Even though many sacrifices were made it was well worth the time and effort involved when the paper came out.
