The Protestant Alliance was a body of nobles and gentry who, though supporting the principle of Orangism, thought it unwise in 1845 to reestablish a Grand Lodge for Ireland, but felt a need for a constitutional organization to protect the interests of protestantism. 20 ff 1845-48 18 OSSORY MARRIAGES LICENCES Copies of marriage licences, 1738-1804, from the grant book of the diocese of Ossory. Dundas on Irish ecclesiastical history, including a copy of " Statistical Account of the Parish of Magheragall " by Revd Francis Patton, Vicar of Magheragall, 1778-1825. This account was prepared for W.S.Mason A Statistical Account or Parochial Survey of Ireland (Dublin 1819) but not used.
