These 57 Gulf Breeze Middle School band students attended Dixie Band Camp in Conway, Ark. this summer. On the first day of camp, the students checked in to their University of Central Arkansas dorm rooms, auditioned, were placed in a band, and then given a tour of the campus. The ten different bands had four days of rehearsals and sectionals. The band students also participated in elective classes every afternoon. At night, they participated in a variety of fun activities, including dances, movies, swimming, and karaoke. One day, the whole camp went to Wild River Country, a local water park. At the end of the week, all of the bands performed a final concert. For the second year in a row, Heather Patten, an oboist in the GBMS Band, was selected as the Outstanding Girl Musician of the camp. Submitted Photo
