As a public relations major at San Jose State University, a member of the university’s bowling team and a new member of the International Bowling Media Association, my mentor Jackie Series VI and WBT International events Wyckoff cordially invited me to work in the IBMA fundraiser booth at Bowl Expo. While I was in Las Vegas, outside and inside the trade show, there was so much to see, understand and appreciate. Before working at Bowl Expo, I attended a welcome recep- tion, a Storm sponsored breakfast and a Brunswick sponsored luncheon. During these functions, I sat in and listened to the latest hap- penings in the companies and the industry, received my first press kit, watched award presentations, danced salsa with an en- tertainer and chatted with some notables from the industry. The Storm breakfast particularly resonated with me. I was fortunate enough to receive valuable insight and see a touching moment. After breakfast, I talked with Bob Hart, VP of Public Rela- tions, and he made suggestions for what I should be doing while I’m trying to start a career. I will definitely use his advice. Also I saw my late coaches’ wife Nicole Reyes being present- ed a check for $55,000 from the funds raised by Tony’s extended bowling family to support her and their daughter Gianna. The amount of support they received from the bowling community was generous and moving. These experiences leading up to the tradeshow were very memorable. At Bowl Expo, Adrian Oceguera, a Fresno State Bowler, Bri- an Hirsch, a MOTIV staff member and myself, sold T-Shirts to SEATTLE — The Professional Bowlers Association will return to a traditional calendar year schedule in 2014, beginning with a fundraise money for students in communication related majors. new season of PBA League competition in Allen Park, Mich., and concluding with the PBA World Series of Bowling VI in Las Vegas This was my first trade show and together we represented an and then the Japan Cup presented by Round 1. organization that desires to inspire more students to become pas- The new season - the PBA’s 55th consecutive year - will include an expanded PBA League season involving the 40 players on the sionate about the bowling business and to foster more bowling eight teams in the League, three major championships, a renewal of the PBA Summer Swing and 46 hours of nationally–televised writers.
