Purpose/Description

This position is responsible for conceptualizing and executing visual ways to illustrate ideas to create recognition for the institution. This role uses their highly creative eye and advanced level of technical skills to identify and capture commercial and editorial style stills or that help tell the story of UNT. This requires either an advanced level of still photography, including extensive knowledge in lighting and in postproduction or in videography/, including an advanced level of post-production, w/ good comprehension of and audio engineering. This role serves to support the Manager in areas of leadership, media collections/library, and project management. Representative Tasks

• Oversees the photographic or cinematic advanced lighting techniques, multi pro- mastery including motion controllers and drone operation and advanced audio engineering to create photography or videography for marketing, social media, web and advertising projects as well as historic archive and editorial publication. • Generates creative ideas and crafting visual solutions to translate concepts into video or still photography—additionally, presenting and delivering these visual concepts to high level stake holders and creating positive interactions with donors, alumni, and University Administration. • Translates market research into effective creative strategies with collaboration from other team members to meet set goals. • Maintains responsibility for a large, complex digital asset management system and the dissemination of photographic or video assets to internal and external users while maintaining UNT brand standards and University messaging. • Assists Manager with personnel, project management and serves as backup for distribution of assignments, additionally may serve as Team Lead/ Director, this includes client facing and retention roles. • Provides advanced level of retouching and editing including color grading and Visual Effects editing. Supervision

Received: Work completed autonomously. Receives general direction working from established policies and procedures. Supervisor sets overall objectives and resources available, and provides consultation to employee to develop deadlines, projects and work to be completed. Employee plans and carries out assignments, resolves most conflicts, coordinates work with others, and interprets policy on own initiative. Employee keeps supervisor informed of progress, potential issues or far-reaching implications.

Given: Typically acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others, but not a supervisor. Allocates work as a team leader, coordinates tasks for the team and may check on quality and work progress. May also act as a coach or mentor.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related field and seven years of work in commercial photography or high level including advanced knowledge of Visual Effects, audio engineering and film directing.

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: • Advanced technical and creative knowledge in DSLR pro-camera operation or advanced technical and creative knowledge in pro, multi-camera operation and motion controllers. • Advanced technical knowledge in photo editing, or video and audio capture and post production editing. • Advanced technical and creative knowledge in studio and environmental lighting techniques. • Advanced comprehension of a complex Digital Asset Management System. • Advanced comprehension of Photoshop or Adobe Premier, Visual Effects, color grading and other industry standard software. • Strong communication skills in working well with diverse colleagues in complex environments. • Strong customer service skills. • Must be a creative and technical problem solver. • Ability to assist in the managing of people and projects. • Ability to juggle multiple and diverse projects and to start projects without being prompted.

Licenses, Certificates or Registration

Required: Videographer- Preferred certification in Adobe Premier or equivalent and or specialized Visual Effects software. Photographer- Preferred certification in Adobe Photoshop.

Physical Job Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. The employee is frequently required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to travel to locations.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high precarious places. Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
