Welcome to the discussion and activities for Don’t Get Caught by Kurt Dinan! This is the second book for ages 14-18. If you’re ages 11-13 you should have the book Slacker.

Here are some themes and questions to think about while you’re reading the book!

● Is Max a likeable main character? Would you want to hang out with him?

● Which of the group’s pranks are funny, and which go too far?

● Does Don’t Get Caught have a “moral?”

Questions to Respond To:

Do you think you would have followed the Chaos Club’s notes up the water tower, or would you have smelled a rat at some point and realized it was a set up?

While you read, did you feel any sympathy for Mr. Stranko? Is he the “villain” in the book, or not?

Did you see the twist coming at the end (the information that Mr. Watson gives Max?) Does it change your opinions about any of the characters, or the book?

There is no sequel to Don’t Get Caught, but the conclusion is very open-ended. If you could choose the plot of the sequel, what would happen?

Here are 3 ideas for Don’t Get Caught activities!

● Write a scene and/or summary from your version of a sequel to Don’t Get Caught, OR write a “deleted scene” from this book, a prank that the reader never sees, etc. Feel free to share your scenes with your librarians by emailing them to [email protected], or putting them in the outside book drop. ● “Cast” people from your friend group in the roles in the book. If you were making your own movie of Don’t Get Caught, who would play who?
