In Depth Events, the events management firm hired by the City of Roswell, has just announced New Mexico’s own Chevel Shepherd as the headlining act for the Main Event concert during the UFO Festival 2021. Chevel Shepherd first made international news for winning the 15th season of The Voice at the young age of 16, nurtured by none other than coach Kelly Clarkson. Since this stunning breakthrough, Chevel has opened shows for Clarkson, as well as other international talent like Little Big Town, Lee Brice, and more. Now, at 18 years old, she is celebrating her debut EP “Everybody’s Got a Story”. A New Mexico native, Chevel was raised in La Plata, New Mexico, a rural community about 30 minutes outside of Farmington. Chevel can’t remember a time when she wasn’t singing. “Gosh, I’ve been singin’ since I could talk,” she says. “My sister and my mom sing, and I always wanted to be like them.” In addition to Chevel’s talents, attendees of the concert on July 3 may get more than they bargained for! The first act will be a community choice – the Roswell Community Little Theatre is hosting a Battle of the Bands on the night before the Main Event, and the winner will get to perform on stage as the first opener.
