The USA Spirit Squad is going to for the 2018 Academic All-American Recognition Tour and you’ve been selected to be a member of this prestigious performance team. You’ll learn new routines, make new friends, and you’ll be seen by thousands of spectators and possibly millions more on national TV.

Imagine performing at the Hawaii Bowl, where we’ll be featured in the exciting half time show. Plus…other performances, including the prestigious Diamond Head Classic. This national televised basketball tournament matches some of the best college teams in the country, including: University of Colorado, Indiana State, TCU, Rhode Island, Bucknell, UNC Charlotte, UNLV and Hawaii. All this, while visiting one of the most exotic places in the world.

2018 Hawaii Bowl Itinerary

Dec. 15… Day 1 All team members arrive today in beautiful , Hawaii. You will be greeted at the Honolulu Airport with a flower lei, made from fresh blossoms, hand sewn especially for you. After claiming your luggage, you will be taken to Waiki- ki, your home for the next 9 days. You’ll be only minutes from Diamond Head, the International Market Place, and steps away from the beach, shopping, entertainment and an assort- ment of restaurants & fast food outlets. Dinner is included tonight.

Dec. 16… Day 2 Orientation meeting this morning where we’ll go over this weeks schedule. Imme- diately following our meeting we’ll have our first practice session, near beautiful Waikiki Beach. This afternoon you’ll have some free time to shop or enjoy the beach. Promotional photographs will be taken while on the tour and press releases will be sent. Continental breakfast and dinner is included today.

Dec. 17, 18 & 19… Day 3, 4 & 5 These days will be spent practicing and preparing for the Hawaii Bowl and your other appearances. On one afternoon you’ll tour the city of Honolulu. You’ll en- joy seeing Chinatown, Honolulu Harbor and Hawaii Pacific University. You’ll visit the only palace on American soil, the financial center, the State Capital and dozens of interesting sites found only in Hawaii.

You will have some free time in the afternoons, where you might enjoy taking a canoe ride, go shopping, or learn how to surf. There are optional tours avail- able such as the Polynesian Cultural Center, glass bot- tom boats, a catamaran sail, or you could just enjoy the beach and work on your tan. Continental breakfast and lunches included on practice days.

Dec. 20… Day 6 This evening we’ll perform at one of the local area high schools. An excellent opportunity to sample a little of the Hawaiian lifestyle. Continental breakfast and dinners included. Dec. 21… Day 7 Today, we’ll be going to , site of the Hawaii Bowl for rehearsals. Later, you’ll be visiting Pearl Harbor to see the Arizona Memorial. There you’ll experience a video presentation of the attack of December 7, 1941, and listen to war veterans as they recount the bloody battle that took place on the “Day of Infamy.“ You’ll actually stand just above the hull of the ship that still seeps oil to this day. Adjoining the memorial grounds you’ll able to see a vintage WWII attack submarine, the USS Seawolf and also the Battleship Missouri, where the Declaration of Surren- der was signed by Japan signaling the end of WWII. Continental breakfast and lunch included today.

Dec. 22… Day 8 This morning and afternoon, you’ll perform at the Diamond Head Classic basketball tournament. Late this afternoon, you’ll return to Aloha Stadium for our Hawaii Bowl performance. The Hawaii & the Diamond Head Classic will both be aired on national TV. Your friends and family can check their local listing for times. Game day details will be announced in Hawaii. Continen- tal breakfast and lunch is included today.

Dec. 23… Day 9 We’ll perform again today at the Diamond Head Classic. There will be free time to do some last minute shopping and even get a little more beach time. Continen- tal breakfast and dinner included today.

Dec. 24… Day 10 Departure Day. Today you’ll gather up all your accumulated treasures and pre- pare for the journey home. The most difficult moment of this trip will be hav- ing to say “aloha” to all the wonderful friends you’ve made this week.

You’ll arrive home tired, but filled with fond memories of an experience that will live with you for years to come.

General Information

The HAWAII BOWL will feature 2 deserving Division One college teams and will be televised nationally. The teams will be selected at the end of the regular football season. Past participants include: Notre Dame, South- ern Methodist University, Fresno State, Oregon State, Colo- rado State, Tulane and Southern Mississippi. The game will be played at Aloha Stadium which has 50,000 seats and is the home field for the University of Hawaii.

The DIAMOND HEAD CLASSIC basketball tourna- ment will be played at the Stan Sheriff Center on the campus of the University of Hawaii. The teams compet- ing in this years tournament are: University of Colorado, Indiana State, TCU, Rhode Island, Bucknell, UNC Charlotte, UNLV and Hawaii.

Questions & Answers Q: WILL THERE BE CHAPERONES FOR MY SON OR DAUGHTER? A: Yes. There will be chaperones to enforce our strict code of conduct. Tour members are held to a high standard of rules to ensure their well being. Anyone who violates the code of conduct will have their parents notified and may be sent home at their own expense. Q: WHERE DO THE PARTICIPANTS STAY? A: Participants are required to stay at the designated Waikiki facilities, which will be assigned about a month prior to the start of the tour. Spectators will stay in a separate nearby hotel. Q: CAN PARENTS AND FAMILY (SPECTATORS) COME ON THE TOUR? A: Yes. All tours will have provisions to accommodate spectators. Spectators will enjoy many of the same things offered in the team members packages. You can get all the details by con- tacting our travel coordinator. Q; WILL PARTICIPANTS BE ABLE TO SPEND TIME WITH THEIR PARENTS? A: Yes, participants may be released to their parents during free times. All participants will still have to adhere to the same curfew times, which will be covered at the first orientation meeting. Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SON OR DAUGHTER GETS SICK OR INJURED? A: All participants are required to have medical coverage. In the unlikely event anyone is in- jured and needs emergency medical attention, there are hospitals within a short distance from where we are staying. Q: WHAT WILL THE TOUR MEMBERS NEED TO BRING WITH THEM? A: A recommended list of items will be sent to each participant about 3 weeks before the tour in the General Information Email. This email will include a list of optional tours, recommenda- tion for misc. expenses such as meals not provided in the tour package, post cards, laundry, toi- letries, etc. Your identification badge and lanyard will be mailed 3 weeks prior to the tour and must be worn on your flight to Hawaii.

Once you’ve registered for the tour, the travel coordinator will contact you with flight arrange- ments and fares. Payment for the airfare will be dependent on the airline & is NOT included in the tour package price. The tour package deposit is: $500.00 and is due immediately. The bal- ance of $699.00 is due on Nov. 15, 2018.

ADULT SPECTATORS are welcome to join in on the fun! They can take advantage of the same tour package as the rest of our group. Special optional tours designed for them will be made available once in Hawaii.
