I became a Co-opted Governor in September 2019, having previously Gail Isted been a Parent Governor for four years and the former chair of the (Co-Chair) school’s PTA - the Friends of Wateringbury Primary School (FOWPS) – between 2010 and 2014. I now Co-chair the Governing Body with Mark, and also sit on the Curriculum & Standards Committee and the

Resources Committee. I am the Lead Governor for Modern Foreign Languages.

Although I studied law at university, my professional background is in newspaper journalism and public relations. Before setting up my own media relations/PR and copywriting business from home, I was the PR

Manager for the UK’s largest ferry operator, P&O Ferries, and also held similar positions at the Metropolitan Police Service and Sport England.

Co-opted Governor I have two daughters, both of whom attended Wateringbury School, Resources Committee and have lived in the village since 2004. Curriculum and Standards Committee Mark Warren I was appointed a Governor in 2015 and now Co-chair the Governing (Co-Chair) Body with Gail. I also Co-chair the Resources Committee, sit on the Curriculum & Standards Committee and am the Lead Governor for Geography.

I live 100 yards from the school and know the school well as my three step-children have all been through the school. I have three children of my own, the youngest two now at university. With a bit more free time,

I have taken up woodworking and hope to spend more time on my photography.

I studied Engineering and Management at university, and from there have had a varied career as an engineer, management consultant

and Finance Director, and currently work for a management Local Authority Governor consultancy in London. I am a passionate believer in the importance of Resources Committee (Co-Chair) science, and engineering and I hope to help inspire the next generation Curriculum and Standards Committee here in Wateringbury!

I am a PCC Foundation Governor, appointed in 2013 and am Co-Chair Suzanne Rowlinson of the Resources Committee. I am also the school’s Lead Governor for (Vice-chair) RE.

I have two children, the youngest being in Year 6, and am a qualified Chartered Accountant.

As well as being Treasurer of the Deanery Synod and auditor of the accounts of Wateringbury Church, I also work part-time for a local

family-owned printer spares/repairs company, helping to manage their accounts, payroll and company secretarial obligations. I am also a Sunday School Leader for Wateringbury Church. What little spare time I have is enjoyed doing Zumba, keep fit and Pilates after the obligatory taxi services for my children.

Foundation Governor Resources Committee (Co-Chair) Curriculum and Standards Committee

Email: governors@wateringbury..sch.uk Kate Millar I am a Foundation Governor, having been appointed in March 2016. Our family has lived in Wateringbury since 1985. It is a pleasure to be involved with Wateringbury Primary School again as I was a governor for eight years when my children attended the school back in the 1980s and 1990s.

I retired from teaching in 2012, having been Senior Assistant Headteacher at The Rochester Grammar School with responsibility for Pastoral Care including Child Protection. As a chemistry teacher I have taught in various schools in before moving to Medway. I am an active member of St John the Baptist Church, Wateringbury. As well as being a member of the Parochial Church Council, I am also on the Foundation Governor team of Sunday School leaders and assist with Family services.

Curriculum & Standards Committee (Chair) I love travelling and have been lucky enough to visit many parts of the world with family and with school. I love spending time with family and friends and in my spare time I enjoy gardening.

Alice Dunstall I was appointed as a Foundation Governor in November 2018. I am a member of the Curriculum & Standards Committee and am also the school’s Lead Governor for Collective Worship.

I am a former RE teacher and member of the Parochial Church Council at Wateringbury Church.

I was once a student at Wateringbury Primary School and you can still find me in the school pictures on the wall!

My hobbies are travel, reading, sewing and journalling.

Foundation Governor Curriculum and Standards Committee

I was appointed as a Foundation Governor in November 2018 and am a member of the Curriculum & Standards Committee. I moved to Eleanor Sutton Wateringbury in 2016 and am looking forward to becoming more involved in the community. I have two boys, one of whom is in Key Stage 1.

I have been a Primary School teacher for just over ten years, teaching in both Key Stage 1 and 2. During this time I qualified as a specialist assessor for pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties and then, after the birth of my eldest son, trained as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). As a SENCo I was a member of the Senior Leadership Team and was also responsible for Pupil Premium, Safeguarding and leading phonics across the school. Special Educational Needs has been a particular passion of mine and so I am Foundation Governor now pursuing a career as an independent assessor of pupils with Curriculum and Standards Committee Specific learning difficulties. When I have some spare time, I enjoy open water swimming, baking and days out with the family.

Email: [email protected] I was born and raised in Gravesend, Kent and came to faith at the age Revd Gary Townsend of 14 on a Baptist run youth camp. Prior to that my main introduction

to Christianity was through the clergy who took school assemblies. This is why I see taking assemblies as a key part of my work as a parish priest and it is the area of school life to which I can contribute the most.

I am married to Sharon and we have two daughters. After ministerial training, I served my curacy on the Isle of Sheppey at Queenborough, and Minster with Halfway. Then I was Assistant Curate with particular responsibility for St Saviour’s in . In 2010 I took my first incumbency as Vicar of Henham, Elsenham and Ugley in the

Chelmsford Diocese before coming to , Wateringbury and Ex-officio Foundation Governor West Peckham in January 2021. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the classical guitar, growing vegetables, reading and natural history.

Goff Pain I was elected Staff Governor in September 2018 and am a member of the Resources Committee.

I have two grown-up sons who both attended Wateringbury and my wife, Sam, was the PTA Chair for many years.

I have a background in catering and also worked in retail management before joining in 1987. I retired in 2014 and became the Site Manager at Wateringbury Primary School in 2017. Staff Governor Resources Committee

Kimberley Salmons I have been a music teacher in Kent since 2007 and have been a lead practitioner and Head of Department in both state and independent

schools.

I have worked in all key stages from early years to sixth form and moved to Wateringbury in 2017. I hope to use my skills to help the

local community and, when not at work, I can often be found walking my dog by the river with my husband who is in the local police force.

Foundation Governor Curriculum and Standards Committee I also enjoy sports, theatre and play the saxophone and piano. I am looking forward to getting involved with all areas of school life. I was appointed as an Associate Member in June 2020 and am a Mike Witts member of the Resources Committee.

My wife and I settled in Wateringbury in 1970. Our two sons both attended Wateringbury School, albeit in the 1980s.

I retired in 2009, having worked for various large consultants as a Senior Design Engineer in Building Services.

During my time in the village I have served on various committees and am still involved with the village cricket team and the Village Fete Committee. I am a member of St. John the Baptist Church. I enjoy all Associate Member types of sport (especially cricket) and also enjoy walking, reading, Resources Committee gardening, music and artwork, particularly watercolours and pen and ink drawings.

Email: [email protected] My late husband and I moved to Wateringbury in 2012 and we soon Ruth Dunn became actively involved in the church and school.

I am a retired secondary teacher, SENCo and SEND consultant for The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. I am a governor at Paddock Wood Primary Academy and I have been a governor at a school for children with visual impairment.

At the church I run Messy Church, take my turn taking the children on Sunday morning and I am part of a small team that takes the All-Age service once a month.

Foundation Governor For several years I supported in the classroom at Wateringbury School Curriculum & Standards Committee but now I concentrate on listening to children read.

I was elected Parent Governor in 2019. I have two sons, one of whom Sarah Day is still at Wateringbury School

I have worked in Secondary Education for 20 years – teaching Science

and PE – and I currently teach Science at Mascalls Academy in Paddock Wood. I have also taught PE to local primary schools as part of a Sports College Outreach programme.

As well as my teaching experience, I believe that my knowledge and experience of curriculum planning, behaviour policies and assisting Parent Governor vulnerable students (Special Educational Needs and Pupil Premium in Curriculum & Standards Committee particular) will also benefit the school.

I was elected Parent Governor in 2019 and currently have a child in Victoria Saunders Year 5. Since moving to the village in 2004, I have always enjoyed the sense of community and firmly believe that our school plays a vital role in that community.

I am a qualified counsellor working in a grammar school in Tunbridge Wells, a secondary school in Tonbridge and at the Heart of Kent Hospice. I believe my professional experience working in schools, with both children, young adults and staff alike, has given me an invaluable insight into the importance of mental health and wellbeing and how our children’s early experiences in education can have a Parent Governor lasting impact. Sara Wallis I have been Clerk to the Governors since 2008. You will also find me at Teston and Wateringbury pre-school.

I have lived in the village since 2004 with my husband and three daughters.

When I am not being ‘Mum’s taxi’ I play percussion in a local wind band and enjoy running.
