Overview The concept of 'giving back to the society' had been ingrained in our Bank‘s core value even before CSR became a mandatory requirement for organizations. Shri KP Hormis, our visionary founder always believed that role of a corporate is not limited to generating profit, but going beyond the conventions to bring meaningful change in the society where we operate in. This commitment to bring sustainable and impactful change is reflected in the way your Bank undertake social development projects. Several major projects that can have long term impact were selected during the year, some of the major initiatives rolled out during the year were Speak for that touched more than 20000 students in Kerala and gave a platform for many to develop their communications skills and confidence levels, your Bank also adopted 1200 schools as part of Bandhan program and as the name signifies it is a long term relationship we have committed to transform the schools through sustained investment in the long term. Your Bank as part of Swacch Bharat mission provided access to safe drinking water to 2 lakh + students studying in the adopted schools. In line with our commitment to conserve environment and natural resources we partnered with Malayala Manorama in Palathulli program that aims at conserving fresh water through rain water harvesting. Your Bank has also embarked on a unique project to transform Aluva to a model town and in the first phase we initiated a programme to clean Periyar River – the lifeline of residents of Kochi. Apart from this we also supported several organizations across who are engaged in Philanthropic/social activities. Our objective remains ―to develop CSR as an integral part of business that brings stakeholder engagement and one that defines our success not only based on the profit we generate but how meaningfully we could influence the world around us‖.

Major Projects undertaken

Bandhan – Adoption of schools As part of our commitment to make a sustainable difference in the community where we live in, we had adopted one school by each of the 1214 branches. Our long term vision will be to bring transformation in the schools identified and aim at its overall development with the participation of employees. The future programs that will be launched in the schools would be in the areas of financial education, environment conservation, construction of toilets, sanitation – in line with Swacch Vidyalaya campaign etc The story so far Bandhan program was launched on Founder‘s Day and as part of launching activity we have supplied water purifier to the 1214 identified schools. The handover of the water purifiers were held at different schools pan India. Branches along with the schools had arranged major functions involving local dignitaries, PTA, students and other officials. Through the donation of water purifiers to 1214 schools we had enhanced our goodwill, and it also gave opportunities for our employees to interact closely with students studying in economically backward schools and build a socially responsible value system in them. Wide local media coverage was also obtained for the activity and through the 1214 schools we could reach out to 2.5 lakhs + students and imprint our name in their hearts and minds of young generations.

Federal Bank Speak for Kerala

Started with the intention to provide an opportunity to all the young talents emerging from the smallest of the blocks, the social initiative has been out on full swing encouraging various students across Kerala to speak for their state on topics that matter the most. The student community in the state responded well to this initiative by participating in good numbers right from the activation stage to the grand finale.

About- Awareness in Colleges

Federal Bank – Speak for Kerala initiative started with generating awareness about the initiative of the Bank & encouraging students to use the opportunity to showcase and develop their skills in articulating their opinion. This phase involved visiting individual colleges across the state and interacting with students providing them with information about the whole activity and on the procedure for participating in the completion. Activation permissions were also obtained from the college principals so as to encourage on the spot entries from students.

Simultaneously a mobile recording facility was enabled to receive entries for initial screening. Interested students were required to give a missed call to a toll free number, and in turn receive an IVR based call back that will prompt the participant to record his/her details and then record a 1 minute speech on the topic ‗Should Liquor be banned?‘. These entries were shortlisted after a rigorous screening process with the help of the jury members from among bank officials.

About- Block Level competitions

The completion phase of the Speak for Kerala activity kicked off with the Block Level competitions on 1stOctober 2014. The contests were held in prominent colleges in each of the 63 blocks where the shortlisted students from the initial screening process came up to debate on the topic ‗Kerala has good primary education system but lacks higher education‘.

The high standard of debates, decent turnouts at the venues, and the presence of locally prominent personalities in the jury panel contributed to the overall success of this phase of the competition. All the contestants across the 63 blocks participated wearing the specially designed Federal Bank Speak for Kerala T-Shirts that were provided to them as part of the activity, and all of them were presented with Certificate of Participation.

About- District Level Competitions-

The winners of the Block Level Competition moved to the next round, which was the DISTRICT LEVEL competition. Each of the events were conducted in a well organized manner, be it in terms of audience, participants or quality of debates. Active involvement of local level officials from the Bank was ensured by putting in charge one middle level officer at each district. An overwhelming response was given by the colleges & participant‘s supporters by showing up in huge numbers in order to witness the event. An average audience of 150+ was with us to be a part of the event. Jury members comprised of esteemed personalities from the field of Arts, science, politics, etc, apart from college professors and our officials. As in the Block Level, the contestants were given FBSFK T- Shirts and Certificates of Participation. Press Releases were issued at each of the 14 districts giving us coverage on the same in local editions of Malayala Manorama.

The winner of the Grand Finale was Ms Sana Nazar who was awarded with the “Federal Bank – Kerala Youth of the Year 2015‟ Trophy, Scholarship worth Rs. 3 lakhs and cash prize of Rs. 50,000. The Runner up got Cash Prize of Rs. 50,000.

Seed – Student Empowerment for Environment Development Global warming and climate change are the major challenges the world is facing today. To build awareness amongst student fraternity to conserve the earth‘s natural resources, we along with Mathrubhumi launched the ‗Seed‘ programme. Various workshops were held across different centers in Kerala to promote awareness and green living among students and through them the society as a whole, 7500 schools were covered under the Seed program. Federal Bank employees also played an active part in conducting awareness classes and to promote sustainable development

Palathulli – Rain water Harvesting Federal Bank joined hands with the leading Media house Malayala Manorama in sponsoring the flag ship Program ―PALATHULLI‖ as part of CSR initiative. Palathulli is a massive campaign launched by Malayala Manorama in 2004 to educate people on rain water harvesting and water conservation. The program envisages educating the public on the scientific methods suggested by experts and practical ways employed by farmers for water conservation and rain water harvesting. Federal Bank officials got involved in the various workshops that were held at different parts of Kerala.

Plastic Exchange Counter at Pamba in Sabarimala : A Federal Bank CSR initiative

To protect the holy Sabarimala temple in the midst of forests, the natural abode of a variety of wild life species from plastic menace, Federal Bank opened a Plastic Exchange Counter at Pamba in Sabarimala aimed at serving the pilgrims by collecting the plastic covers and used bottles from them and handing over to them Eco Friendly bags specially designed for their use, free of cost. The initiative attracted attention of media, the Kerala State Govt and the general public and was lauded by all.

The functioning of the counter was formally inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Chennithala, the Hon‘ble Home Minister of Kerala. The function was attended by several dignitaries including Sri. V S Sivakumar, Hon‘ble Minister for Health and Devaswom, Sri Raju Abraham Hon‘ble MLA, Sri S Harikishore IAS, District collector, Sri K Padmakumar IPS, ADGP and Sri A Sreenivas IPS,SP-Pathanamthitta in the presence of Banks officials and large gathering of pilgrims.

Eradicating Poverty: „Bhoomigeetham‟ A Musical Harmony for the Landless- An initiative by Government of Kerala The Chief Minister inaugurated the Bhoomigeetham program – a function in connection with a musical evening — Bhoomigeetham‘ — to raise fund for the landless in the city on August 31, 2014. The first ticket of the event was received by the Chief Minister from the Excise Minister K. Babu. Film Director Siddique inaugurated the Bhoomigeetham website. Our Bank sponsored the program as a CSR event

AIDS awareness Stamps, a fund raising project of Global Kerala Initiative – Keraleeyam for rehabilitation of HIV child victims.

Global Kerala Initiative - Keraleeyam, an NGO, is a major charity organization in Kerala, working for the rehabilitation of the neglected and orphaned HIV positive children. They provide Rs1500 to each child to meet their educational, nutritional and medicinal need and work for bringing them back to the main stream in the society. The Institution have their project named Santhwanam (Solace) with exclusive motive of rehabilitation of HIV child victims. The Bank supported the organisation in printing stamps to sell in CBSE Schools in Kerala during 2013-14 academic year. During this period they distributed 25 lakhs stamps and as on date Rs.50 lakhs was collected and the process is still continuing.

Aluva Master Development – Socio Economic Development “Transforming a society”

Federal Bank has its roots situated in the small town of Aluva. Aluva is a fast growing municipality and is a major centre for trade and tourism. Federal Bank along with Aluva Municipal Council and Well Wishers of Aluva is keen to develop Aluva into a world class city delivering high quality of life to its residents; that is able to adapt to climate change, while protecting its unique heritage. In early 2013, Aluva and UK announced a collaboration to devise a plan to allow the city to grow sustainably with a view of what the world will be like in 2050. The objective is to make a visible transformation in Aluva through undertaking participatory projects with the Municipal Corporation especially in the area of waste management

Being the hometown and a place where large number of pilgrims, tourists and other people visit, the town Aluva would become synonymous with the Name Federal Bank. The long term objective is to develop Aluva into a World Class City

Transformation Vision

Phase – I Waste Water Treatment Plant at three priority areas of Aluva where the waste water flows into Periyar. Periyar remains the water resource for major part of Ernakulam. It is of utmost priority and importance that the waste water is treated scientifically before being flushed to Periyar. The waste water treatment plant to be set up in three priority areas of the town will help in restoration of Periyar River, reduce river pollution and preserve the water resource for generations.

The project would be an ongoing project and a budget out of the total CSR spending would be earmarked for the activity. The proposal is to bring a continuous and impactful change in Aluva Town through long term sustained investment.

Financial Education through Employee Participation – Promoting Education

To educate public on the importance of Banking and new technological products a project was launched wherein employees would set up stalls in Melas, Festivals and impart Financial Education to the public. The stalls were set up in different locations in India

Coastal Clean Up‟ a social event organized by Chennai Trekking club in association with Federal Bank

‗Chennai Coastal Clean Up‘ is a social event organized by Chennai Trekking club in association with Federal Bank. The event is the 5th in the row started in 2010. The event primarily sets out a target for the quantum of garbage to be picked up and accordingly the city beaches are segregated into zones. The Committee constituted for the event was successful in picking 40+ tons of garbage covering a span of 15 kms. To support the event, year on year, various corporate, schools, NGO‘s and individual volunteers forms part of the magnanimous event in the city. 6000+ volunteers participated in the event across various zones of beaches.

Over 70 staff and family members participated in the event representing the bank. The employees could contribute to collect 50 tons of garbage.

Seva Kendra Calcutta (SKC) is the official socio- developmental society of Archdiocese of Calcutta. It is a registered society under the W B Societies Registration Act. The Bank provided them with Solar PV System in hostels and schools in the remote areas where children do not have electricity during nights to facilitate education

Ninth Lecture by the Kerala State Planning Board in association with Federal Bank.

The Kerala State Planning Board organizes a series of lectures for intellectual discourse on various subjects relevant to development and welfare of the State. The lectures on various topics held during the previous months had evoked much enthusiasm and open discussion. The ninth lecture in this series was on ‗The State of our Economy Politics and Governance‘. Dr. Bimal Jalan, former Governor, Reserve Bank of India delivered the Lecture at 4pm on 25th September 2014 at Symphony Hall, Mascot Hotel, Trivandrum. Shri K.M Chandrasekhar, Vice Chairman, Kerala State Planning Board made the opening remarks. Shri Shyam Srinivasan, MD & CEO opened up the discussion.

„Federal Bank Blind Friendly Park‟ in the premises of “The School for Blind at Aluva”.

The School of Blind, Aluva registered under The Kerala Blind School Society (Reg. No. ER.6/64) provides free education, boarding and lodging till 10th standard. The school is acclaimed as one of the foremost among the 12 blind schools in the state. They have 71 students in their rolls. They are the overall champions in the state level arts festival, sports meets, work experience contest.

The Bank set up a Blind Friendly Park in their premises which facilitate pleasure as well as better education, mobility training and acquisition of life skills.

Some of the facilities are models of birds and animals; love birds in its natural settings; Pond area with musical fountain; Lawn area with aromatic plants herbs flower beds etc.

Livelihood enhancement project for mentally challenged and homeless people- Kitchen Equipments for Antara Psychiatric hospital, Kolkata

ANTARA is a Non Governmental, Non Profit, Secular, Voluntary and Apolitical Organization established in the year 1971. For the past 43 years the institution is engaged in extending treatment, care and rehabilitation to persons affected with mental illness, addiction and alcohol dependence. While Antara caters to people belonging to all levels of economic status, special emphasis is given on extending services to needy persons, especially the destitute, wandering, homeless, neglected and vulnerable persons.

One of the unique features of Antara Hospital is the Community Kitchen preparing and serving same food to the patients, staff, visitors and guests. This helps in maintaining good quality and standards in the food served to the patients and hence the Bank provided them with Kitchen equipments to make the kitchen work lighter, faster and more efficient.

Promoting Education: „Inter-School Quiz Challenge-2014‟ by Mumbai Zone

Promoting Preventive Health Care: „Arogya Sathram 2014‟ Mega Medical Camp at Koothattukulam

Federal Bank and Lions Club of Koothattukulam in association with Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Ernakulam organized ‗Arogya Sathram 2014‘- a medical camp at Koothattukulam on 20th September 2014 at Mrygiri Public School Koothattukulam. Governing bodies, major organizations and Kudumbasree units of Seven Panchayaths namely Koothattukulam, Palakuzha, Thirumarady, Veliyannoor, Purapuzha, Arakuzha and Elanji co-operated in this event.

Objectives of the Camp were

Promoting Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women- Joint initiative of People‟s Council for Social Justice with Federal Bank

People‘s Council for Social Justice (PCSJ) – the brain child of eminent jurist Mr. Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer, is a socio-legal organization established in 1985 under the Travancore- Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act for speedy delivery of justice to the needy and the downtrodden and also for legal education aiming at the empowerment of the most vulnerable group in the society.

PCSJ with Federal Bank launched a year long program for promoting gender equality and empowerment of women, children and destitute etc. The focus of the program is to implement Millennium Development Goals which has been accepted in the CSR strategies too An awareness programme to end Violence on Women and Children joint initiative with People’s Council for Social Justice (PCSJ) at Udaya Colony.

All Kerala Student Police Cadet Quiz Competition 2014 in association with Federal Bank.

Student Police Cadet (SPC) Project has become a unique school level youth development initiative by Kerala Police, which trains school students to evolve as future leaders of a truly democratic society by inculcating within them respect for law, discipline, civic sense, empathy for vulnerable section of the society and resistance to social evils. SPC project was launched in August 2010 and it has been successfully implemented in 420 schools across Kerala with about 33000 students enrolled as Cadets. All Kerala Student Police Cadet Quiz Competition 2014 in association with Federal Bank is an All- Kerala PC Quiz involving each and every school in the SPC programme. This annual event features brightest minds in PSC schools, who are competing face-to face in an exciting battle of intellects. This State wide event is one of the prestigious annual activities of the Student Police Cadet Project involving thousands of High School students (8th & 9th Standards).

Support to Providence Home, Kizhakkambalam for purchase of a vehicle to take inmates to the hospital.

Providence Home is a charitable institution, registered as a charitable society. LSDP Charitable Society Registration NO 834, institution started in the year 1978. Now the institution has 16 houses, main house at Changanassery. There are about 120 inmates in the age group of 3 to 65 years at the Providence Home, Kizhakkambalam. Most of the inmates are incapable of attending to their day to day needs. The inmates are mentally retarded and most of them are sick. The Bank supported the organization to purchase a vehicle to carry very weak and mentally challenged inmates to hospital at night and during emergency occasions

„Care For Her‟ by RED FM 93.5 in association with Federal Bank.

‗Care For Her‘ an initiative started by RED FM 93.5 in association with Federal Bank is a hair donation programme towards wig making for patients undergoing chemo treatments for cancer. Many suffering from cancer lose their hair due to the effects of chemotherapy. People can help the cancer patients regain their smile and confidence by donating their hair. It‘s a wonderful deed with potential to change someone‘s life for better.

Christmas Soccer Championship by Christian Sports Organization in association with Federal Bank.

Christian Sports Organization Jammu & Kashmir (HO: Garrison (Catholic) Church, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu) was formed in 2012 with an objective of upliftment of youth and helping youths influenced by drug addiction. The Bank supported this year‘s events to persuade youth to get rid of usage of drugs, alcohol, smoking and allied activities.

"Federal Bank Presents Thamosama Jyothirgamaya....from darkness to light" SRVC (Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged) is a registered NGO (Reg.No: ER798/02) which is actively involved with empowerment and rehabilitation of visually challenged people over the past 12 years. This year on 3rd December 2014, the World Disability Day, SRVC with Federal Bank organized a mega music and dance concert involving international artists and senior celebrities to raise funds for developing more facilities to replicate skill development and rehabilitation activities which have been tested and tried successfully. Visually impaired musicians and dancers performed with senior celebrities. There was also a Fashion Show involving visually impaired models.

Educational aid for approximately 200 Tribal children in Kerala in association with Friends of Tribal Society. Friends of Tribal Society (FTS) is a service organization for noble cause of development of remote villages through education of most neglected community, tribals of India. FTS is a registered Charitable Society, headquartered in Kolkata. Friends of Tribal Society was started in 1989 to focus specifically on primary education to the tribals in distant hilly regions. In Kerala, Federal Bank is proud to join the ranks of companies like BPCL, Cochin refineries, KITCO etc. in supporting the organisation carry out the noble cause. The Bank is currently sponsoring 200 tribal students in Kerala.

Eradicating Poverty: Constructing houses for poor homeless family Sangli Mission Society is the registered charitable society of Sangli Mission (Reg No Mah/3863/Sangli & F/ 3827 Sangli) and it coordinates all the development and charitable works of the mission. It has made impressive strides in the field of general education, rehabilitation, health care, women empowerment, vocational training and agro- based innovations. Federal Bank along with Sangli Mission is engaged in constructing six Jubilee Memorial Houses for the poorest identified families, these families do not get any assistance from the government as they neither have proper documents nor fall under the criteria.

Promoting education on Road Safety: Road safety week, Chennai

Chennai City Traffic Police in association with Federal Bank conducted the 26th Road Safety Week during the period from January 11 to January 21, 2015 involving various activities such as Signature Campaign, Helmet Campaign, Rally/Human chain, Painting competition etc.

Team from Zonal Office/Chennai took part in the human chain formation on OMR starting from Tidel Park on January 20, 2015. Around 2000 personnel from different IT organizations in and around the OMR stretch took part in the event. The programme was inaugurated by Ms Lakshmi IPS, DCP, St Thomas Mount and the gathering was addressed by AGM (Business Development), Zonal Office.

Vehicle for SOLACE a Trust supporting children suffering from long term illness, Thrissur

Solace is a charitable trust established in the year 2007 by Ms Sheeba Ameer. Presently Solace caters to more than 700 children suffering from long term illness such as cancer, nephrotics syndrome, cerebral palsy, heart disease etc. In addition to medical support they also provide psycho social support to children‘s and families.

Swara Raaga Sandhya 2015- a fund raising musical event for rural development of Kaushalya Village, Ghaziabad. St. Thomas Orthodox Church Society, a charitable society founded in the year 1980 is celebrating the 35th year of its glorious existence for fruitfully carrying on their projects in the areas of social educational and various humanitarian concerns. Further to expansion in other areas of social upliftment, the society has recently launched ‗Mar Philoxenos Housing and charitable project‘. To raise funds for noble projects, Society organized Swara Raaga Sandhya 2015 in association with Federal Bank. The grand Mega Musical Event was conducted by K G Marcose and team on 4th January, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

Kitchen Garden for Healthy Living, vegetable farms for Kudumbasree unit - an initiative of Rotary Inner Wheel District 320. Inner wheel is a part of the Rotary movement where the membership is restricted to the spouses and blood relatives of Rotarians and invited ladies with professional and social back ground. Inner wheel has presence in 103 countries and has 3895 clubs. Federal Bank along with inner wheel organized 10 seminars on vegetable farming with the help of Kudumbasree units. Each centre was given Rs. 20,000/- for organizing the seminar, to provide the literature, seeds and basic fertilizers. It is a continuous project which will empower women and in the process help families lead a healthy life.

Focus on Employee Social responsibility – Activities held on Founder‟s Day with participation of employees CSR is an area that can help build value system among employees and make them feel part of social change. With this objective, we had decided to involve staff members as part of our employee social responsibility initiatives. Many welfare projects were successfully completed with the active participation of employees on Founder‘s Day. Some of the initiatives undertaken on this front are as follows Contribution to Flood affected victims of Jammu Kashmir – Many people were affected by the calamity in J&K due to the incessant rains and cloud burst that happened in that region, thousands were left homeless, without food, shelter or clothing. Prime Minister had also made an appeal to generously contribute to the disaster relief efforts. As an initiative in this regard, we collected warm clothes from all Zones and Corporate Office and the same have been dispatched through two major NGO‘s – Goonj and Ahmad and Haris Khan Charitable trust. 550 Kg of clothes were collected from Corporate Office, Aluva that have been sent directly to Srinagar. In other Zones average of 5-6 cartons of clothes were collected and the total weight of collected clothes would be about 1 tonne (approximate) totalling a value of Rs 25 Lakhs (approximate).
