HEAVEN AND EARTH (YIDDISH COSMOS) Yevgeniy Fiks HEAVEN AND EARTH (YIDDISH COSMOS) Yevgeniy Fiks Artiste pluridisciplinaire, Yevgeniy Fiks présente Heaven and Earth (Yiddish Cosmos), une exposition qui dévoile les suprenantes connections entre l’histoire juive en Europe de l’Est, l’utopie futuriste et le programme spatial soviétique. Fiks compose un récit de la culture yiddish fondée sur des concepts d’imagination audacieuse, d’universalité et de progrès scientifique. En associant faits historiques et fiction, Yiddish Cosmos évoque l’utopie futuriste du XXe siècle et les réalisations concrètes de la science spatiale du point de vue juif en Europe de l’Est. Pour Yevgeniy Fiks, l’idée même du Cosmos dans le contexte soviétique devient la quintessence de la notion de Patrie pour un peuple diasporique. Si le récit juif d’Europe de l’Est au XXe siècle aspire particulièrement à l’universalisme et au progrès scientifique, c’est le Cosmos comme “Patrie” qui embrasse parfaitement ces mêmes idéaux.
